Welcome to BYT’s newest “hot damn, how could I live without this” column, Eating Out. We’ll be highlighting one food or booze special event every night of the week. From the best happy hours in the city to the uber expensive $500 per person tasting menus, there is something good to eat or drink every single night in this city and we want to help you find it. And yes, we get the joke.
If you care about activism, or you just have a passion for green spaces and food, then make sure to grab tickets to the Complete Streets Dinner. This year the Greenroads team will be talking about the best way to make our roads greener while you enjoy some sweet Mexican food. Tickets are expensive at $155, but at least you know you’ll be helping out a good cause.
If you’re a huge fan of the Saint Louis brewery than you cannot afford to miss this party. Not only will Churchkey have 22 taps devoted to Schlafly, they’ll also be dolling out beer from a few large formats they’ve been aging in the cellar, including their 2008 barrel-aged Imperial Stout, the 2011 Imperial Stout, and the 2015 Ibex Series: Eleventh Labor. It’s going to be a good night.
We know it’s winter. We know it’s freezing. We know that simply walking outside feels like traversing a frozen tundra, but frozen drinks are great no matter the weather. I refuse to give up frozen sangria (or frosé) just because it’s below freezing outside. I’m not going to let mother nature boss me around and neither should you.
I’ve never been to All About Burger. I don’t know what its deal is, but I do know to never turn down free french fries. If I could have french fries for every meal, I would, but since that’s an absolutely horrible idea and I’m not a total idiot, I’ll settle for the days when I can get them for free. Like Friday. Before you head off to whatever over crowded bar your friends are making you hit up tonight, fill your stomach with some starchy fried food. You can thank me on Saturday morning.
The folks behind El Sol are bringing us a mezcal bar to rival Espita. Opening Friday the 13th, they’ll be serving up 50-60 types of mezcal as well as 17 different street tacos. There’s even going to be a Our Lady of Guadalupe mural. If you’re going to get drunk on Saturday (and if you’re reading BYT you probably are), we can’t think of a better place.
Also, check back on Friday for our very own photos / fresh hot takes.
Your week looks delicious.
