Welcome to BYT’s newest “hot damn, how could I live without this” column, Eating Out. We’ll be highlighting one food or booze special event every night of the week. From the best happy hours in the city to the uber expensive $500 per person tasting menus, there is something good to eat or drink every single night in this city and we want to help you find it. And yes, we get the joke.
Learn how to fully butcher a lamb with James Beard nominated chef Victor Albisu. He’ll walk you through the butchering process while you sip on a cocktail, then a ridiculous dinner will follow. Dishes include grilled lamb tongue with braised cheek, kung pao lamb sweetbreads, braised lamb empanadas, and Korean style lamb chops. You’re going to be so full of lamb, you might never actually want to eat it ever again.
Spend a night celebrating Fiesta de la Vendimia with China Chilcano! The Peruvian festival is all about getting hyped for the wine and grapes made in the Ica region so there will be plenty of wine to spare. Master Somm Andy Myers will be there to take you through the regions wines while chef Carlos Delgado serves up some sweet Peruvian food. I’ve never had a bad meal at China Chilcano, so I can promise you it’s going to be good. Also they’ll probably serve you a pisco sour at some point and goddamn are those drinks good.
Watch your favorite local baristas battle until first blood (or first steamed milk burn?) at the second annual Latte Art Competition! Baristas will team up and then spin a wheel to decide what art they must recreate. It’s going to be fun and silly and who doesn’t enjoy watching people show off their incredibly specialized skill?
Spend your Friday filling yourself up with delicious Jewish food at WeWork! Food, cocktails and dessert will be provided by some of your favorite local vendors like Little Sesame and Baked & Wired. It sounds pretty damn good.
Get ready for a very serious pizza making class. Start everything off with cheese and salumi while you watch a pizza demo then enjoy a sit down lunch piled with roasted cauliflower, meatballs, charred greens, pizza and pistachio bundino. There’s also going to be unlimited house wines. You’re going to walk out of here drunk and in a food coma. I can guarantee it.
Eat brunch foods that will make you high while you watch stand up comedy. It’s really that simple.
Your week looks delicious.
