Welcome to BYT’s newest “hot damn, how could I live without this” column, Eating Out. We’ll be highlighting one food or booze special event every night of the week. From the best happy hours in the city to the uber expensive $500 per person tasting menus, there is something good to eat or drink every single night in this city and we want to help you find it. And yes, we do get the joke.
It’s the middle of the week and your beginning to regret everything you’ve ever done because Wednesdays are the worst! That means it’s time to drain your body of blood and fill it with whiskey instead. Bourbon understands this, which is why they have Whiskey Wednesdays. This week they’re pairing up with the always delicious WhistlePig. Stop by for tastes of their 10 Year Rye and their Old World Finished Rye. If straight whiskey isn’t your thing, they’ll also be pouring plenty of whiskey cocktails. If you’re not hungover on Thursday you’ve done something wrong.

Service Bar Grand Opening
You know what’s worse that Wednesday? Thursday! Which is why we’re getting our drink on again, but this time at U Street’s newest beverage provider, Service Bar. This place seems like it might just find its way as a cool bartenders bar and regardless, we’re down with any place that is serving booze and fried chicken. So stop by, do a champagne pairing, get a cocktail, peruse the beer / wine menu and bask in the fact that you will have been here before all of your friends.
Finally! It’s Friday and you can be a gluttonous monster without worrying about whether or not it will affect your work performance! Wooo! Go hard in the paint in Compass Rose’s Bedouin tent. There’s going to be delicious Middle Eastern food paired with equally delicious red and white wines from Chateau Musar. Tickets are $70, which is a little steep, but trust me, good Middle Eastern food is worth every penny.

For some reason, the coolest food events are always on Sunday, and this weekend is no exception. Head down to Union Market for Shucktoberfest by Blue Point Brewing Company. The four hour festival will include all you can drink / eat beer, beer cocktails, oysters, and seafood. Also did we mention the oysters are from Rappahannock and that they’re also bringing clam chowder aka one of the best soups you can possible eat? Sure, there’s also going to be live bluegrass, and some TV’s for the Redskins fans, but whats really important here are the oysters and chowder.

Your week looks delicious.
