Welcome to BYT’s newest “hot damn, how could I live without this” column, Eating Out. We’ll be highlighting one food or booze special event every night of the week. From the best happy hours in the city to the uber expensive $500 per person tasting menus, there is something good to eat or drink every single night in this city and we want to help you find it. And yes, we do get the joke.

tuesday

Baltimore Beer Week

D.C. had it’s time to shine, but now it’s Baltimore’s turn. Make your way up to see our cooler neighbor and drink some great beer while you’re at it. There are so many possible options. If you love Under Armor / work at Under Armor / are part of the Under Armor cult, Magic Hat is having a takeover in Locust Point. If you want to drink and feel good about yourself, Alexander’s Tavern is giving $1 of every Flying Dog sold to an Ellicott City recovery fundraiser. If you have good taste, Brewer’s Art is celebrating their 20th anniversary at Bertha’s. There are so many options, you’re bound to find yourself drunk on the last Marc train wondering what the hell happened.

wednesday

Let’s switch gears entirely. Rumba Cafe is holding a family celebration that not only includes delicious traditional Argentinian food, but also traditional folk music. Expect to stuff your face with empanadas, choripanes, and red wine.

thursday

World Food Day

This is your chance to be a glutton and make a difference. Restaurants around D.C. (and the rest of the nation) are donating 10% of their proceeds to World Central Kitchen. So you can get a little crazy on the drinks and desserts and know that in your heart of hearts you’re making a difference. Participating restaurants include Beefsteak, Cava, Chez Billy, China Chilcano, DBGB, Doi Moi, Eat the Rich, Maketto, Rocklands and more.

friday

$2 Burgers @ All About Burger

You’ve spent a lot of money on food this week, and while some of it was for charity, I understand that you need a break from all those pricey small plates. Which is why we’re heading down to Waterfront to eat the fuck out of some $2 burgers and chicken sandwiches. They’re cheap and they’ll soak up all of the booze your about to drink. When you’re done, head on over to Blue Jacket, so you can spend all the money you saved on expensive draft beer. Then go to Ice Cream Jubilee and spend the rest of the money you saved on a waffle cone. Now that’s what I call smart shopping.

saturday

Dogtoberfest @ Glen’s Garden Market

Everything you need to know about this event is in the name. There will be dogs. There will be beer. Glen’s beer is the best deal in town and their Dupont patio is a beautiful spot to spend the day. If you get hungry, order one of their delicious sandwiches, salads, or pizzas. If you have a dog, bring your dog. If you don’t have a dog, show up and pet other peoples dogs. It’s a win win situation.

sunday

PigStarter @ Sixth Engine

Sundays are the perfect days for a big meal because you can just go home and collapse for the rest of the day, and it looks like Sixth Engine is for sure going to send you home in a food coma for sure. Chefs from Daikaya, Thip Khao, Gravitas, Beuchert’s Saloon, Bar Pilar, Saint Ex, The Riggsby, and Buttercream Bakeshop, will all break down and whole pig / goat and cook their own small plates. There will be music by the The Haystack Mountain Boys, plus booze from Wild Hare Cider, 3 Stars Brewing Company, and One Eight Distillery.

Your week looks delicious.
