In case you missed us last time, we feature the news, events, people, and stores that are putting STYLE back into this buttoned-up city. Also, check out our 2015 Style Round Up – for all the best in D.C. style from the most stylish people in town.
THIS WEEK! BYT and National Geographic’s ALL-ACCESS After Hours takeover is happening on Friday! Our theme is Freaks & Greeks after Nat Geo Museum’s current exhibition, the amazing The Greeks. Although the Greeks weren’t really known for being amazingly stylish, I have been to enough toga parties to try and get a little more creative. Not that I’m judging- if you want to wear a freaking toga WEAR A FREAKING TOGA. Here’s a handy guide on how to tie one, complete with a strangely drawn male in his undies.
Tunes We’re Jamming To This Week
So I was GOING to feature a Greek song from Eurovision but their 2016 song was TERRIBLE, as was the song that won the last time that Greece won the contest in 2005. SO since I don’t like Greek Eurovision entries, I decided to feature my FAVORITE Eurovision song of all time. Sweden’s 2012 entry – Euphoria by Loreen. I will never not scream this at the top of my lungs when it plays.  EUPHORIAAAA!! FOREVERRR TILL THE END OF TIMEEEEEEE *cue thunder and lightning sound effects*
Fashion News
W Hotel x DCFI Designers Spring/Summer 2017 Collection Fashion Show
We checked out last week’s DCFI designer collection’s show last week. Featuring designers from DCFI members Pearlina, Dur Doux, Belle Flowers, Wag the Wearable Art Gallery and Shaka King Menswear. Our personal favorite was Dur Doux. Mostly because they had the coolest pair of sunglasses and we need them now (the girl in the white romper is wearing the glasses we ADORE).
New York Fashion Week
It starts today. Vogue has a preview that we haven’t been able to stop reading. Check it out here.
STILL HAPPENING:Â Late September – The Washingtonian Style Setters Party
The Washingtonian’s STYLE ISSUE is out now, which they always celebrate with an incredibly stylish soiree at the end of the month. Check out pictures from last year here.
September 14th – 18th: Mosaic District Fashion Week
The September 14th kick off party culminates in an 8:30pm showing of Dior and I, and I will 100% be there because I love that movie. Even though Raf Simon’s Dior departure still makes me sad.
September 23rd: Washington Redskins Runway Show
Bloomingdale’s 8100 Tysons Corner Center Mclean, VA 22102
Yep, you read that correctly.

And now for this week’s feature:
What To Wear (and not to wear) to our National Geographic After Hours Takeover!
Without fail, every party we throw is accompanied by a flurry of emails asking us what people should wear. While none of our events EVER have a dress code (we wouldn’t do that to you), here’s what to wear just in case a TOGA is not really your thing (or the one bed sheet you have is currently on your bed).  Since the event is TOMORROW (agh!), I tried to keep it to things you can run out and buy/rent today or tomorrow.
For those who enjoy a SUPER FUN play on words and want to go as characters from GREASE

So while you’re not supposed to drink in your GREEK LETTERS (in case exec board hears about it…) that doesn’t mean you can’t go full on GREEK LIFE (if you don’t know why we have a pair of norts on here, you are clearly not aware of the sorority edict of 2012 in which we all must wear nike shorts, all the time)

Shop of the Week: Joint Custody
1530 U St. NW
I like to think I’m pretty on top of the vintage game. Then I walked past Joint Custody and realized I have much to learn about D.C. I had never even heard of this amazing eden filled with vintage clothing and records. They also have one of the best selections of consignment shoes I have ever seen! Usually I think wearing other people’s old shoes is completely gross, but as soon as I get my next paycheck I am running straight back to the U St. shop and grabbing one of their pairs of $40 tall boot moccasins.Â
And that’s it for this week! Stay stylish D.C.!
