Late September – The Washingtonian Style Setters Party
This party is always one of the most stylish parties of the year (check out the well dressed-ness at the 2015 soiree). Also, the September issue of the Washingtonian is the style issue and if you HAVE NOT YET READ IT, be sure to stand in line at the Foggy Bottom Whole Foods (because that line is long enough to get through 90% of the issue before you have to pay for it, thank me later).

Starts September 7th – New York Fashion Week
Another FW, another new season. Who are we excited for? November 12th looks like the DAY OF OUR DREAMS. The morning starts with 3.1 Phillip Lim, followed by Oscar de La Renta at 4pm, and ending with Rag & Bone at 8pm. We plan on just being glued to our computers all day long (or more so than normal).

Dîner en Blanc
This happened. The Washington Post wrote a very interesting article on “Why Do People Hate Diner en Blanc?”. I have never been, and have friends on both sides of the argument so I’ll let you make up your own mind. Whatever your feelings, you cannot deny it is an amazingly PHOTOGENIC event.

And now for this week’s feature

How to Put the Style Back Into Hiking
I know what you’re thinking… was there EVER any style involved in hiking? Even I tend to choose function over form when it comes to my outdoorsy activities and hiking boots especially tend to be the worst of the worst.

In 6th grade, I loved my hiking boots so much I wore them every day. I refused to take them off, even for gym class. They were olive green and kind of hideous but I loved them. They were so hideous though, that I remember one girl trying to make fun of what she thought were dirty shoes (they’re SUPPOSED TO BE THAT COLOR). Anyways, I turned to her and snapped “these shoes cost more than your entire house”. 6th graders are the worst.

But things have changed since I was in 6th grade, you can look amazing while enjoying the outdoors. Join me on this adventure as I pick the BEST OF THE BEST items to help you look fabulous in gear that both looks great AND does things like protect you from the sun, breathe for you, gives you high fives when you reach the summit, etc.

Need to know where to go? Consult the BYT Hiking Guide for the best places to go get some nature. Also use our Camping Etiquette Guide for everything, but mostly camping.
