Zara can’t stop stealing from independent artists! Who do they think they are? Urban Outfitters?
ICYMI: New shoe store Bucketfeet in Shaw is now officially open! Their artist collab shoes are kind of amazing.

Not big into British fashion? Did the words “British fashion” conjure up dowdy tweeds and maybe a Hogwarts style cloak in your head? Ryan Lo’s archive show in London last weekend was almost GAME CHANGING in nature and definitely has us trying to book the next red eye to London to get our hands on this cape.
New York Men’s Fashion Week happened (it was July 11th – 14th). For an ON THE GROUND REPORT we caught up with one of my personal fashion gurus, and lifestyle blogger Diego of Diego Downtown for all things #NYMFW.

DIEGO DOWNTOWN TAKEOVER SPECIAL:
“Coming to you once again from the runways of NYC, this is Diego Gonzalez-Zuniga from Diego Downtown! A week ago I had the chance to view the upcoming menswear styles, trends, and designs coming for Spring/Summer 2017. Lightweight bomber jackets are going to be huge once again for layering to create that signature spring outfit! Some standout designers for me were Carlos Campos with lightweight tailored fabrics and classic white short-sleeve shirting with vertical and horizontal navy stripe accents. Nick Graham gave us fun printed conversational suiting, tropical prints, and conversational tees which is great for summer adventures and vacations! Coach is still killing it with designer collaborations and introducing studs, studs, and more studs from leather bomber jackets to leather studded footwear in their entire rocker-style collection. Overall there were some really great stand out designers this season that are really telling powerful color stories that also include standout footwear design. Hopefully we’ll see this continuing into Fall/Winter 2017 next season too.
and now back to our regularly scheduled programming
Store of the Week: Free People
So I occasionally buck tradition and feature a non unique to the D.C. region store because their current season IS SO ON POINT, that I declare it worthwhile. Last time I did this it was because Zara had transformed their summer 2016 collection into the tropical vacation wonderland of your dreams. This time it’s because FREE PEOPLE has gone from that store that you briefly consider stopping in before making a beeline for Urban Outfitters, to having the BEST dress collection I’ve seen in ages. I used to feel like a lot of their clothing was so boho it was alienating (why am I paying $250 for this white sheet?) but these… these are incredible. I have this one in white, which even the lady at Buffalo Exchange was trying to buy it off me (I was like NO THESE ARE MY NICE CLOTHES OBVIOUSLY! BUY MY RANDOM SHITTY CLOTHES PLEASE). Alas she did not. Anyways. There’s a Free People in Georgetown/ Tysons/ Bethesda.

Fashion Find of the Week: BCBGeneration Jacket from Current Boutique
I love consignment/ vintage shopping, and just shopping in general. So I decided it would be a cool thing to share with you guys some of the cool things I find while scouting around in my favorite stores. It might not all be things I actually end up buying (budgets are real y’all), but this pastel pleather jacket from Current I actually did end up buying. I had gone in to sell an old black OBEY jacket that I realize I never wore, and saw this gem hanging on the rack in the back of the store. It might not be designer, but it’s this kind of unique find that makes vintage/consignment shopping so fun.

And that’s it for this week! Stay stylish D.C.!
