Hey there! Welcome to the seventh edition of District StyleFile. In case you missed us last time, each week we’ll be featuring the news, events, people, and stores that are putting STYLE back into this buttoned-up city.
2015 was the year of Gigi Hadid… anyone who says differently has clearly not opened a Vogue in the past year. Skimming through the December issue, I started counting Gigi pictures and made it to 15 before getting bored.
In WINTER SURVIVAL NEWS! You need this hand creme. Seriously. I do not mess around with hand creme- my hands are so dry they’ve been (I’m sure lovingly) called DRAGON CLAWS. Since I’ve been using this, my hands have been so soft and not ONE PERSON HAS CRINGED AT MY HANDSHAKE. #Goals
Holiday Style Survival
It has been said (or I may be just be making this up) that you can’t put “chic” in Christmas. A) it looks weird “Chicristmas” and B) you want to be cozy and warm and have pants with expanding waist capabilities so you can eat all the pie with zero guilt. Well I’m here to help- here are some ideas to get you through these next few days as stylishly as possible. Pro tip: for stylish GIFT IDEAS, check out the BYT Gift Guide and thank me later (SO OBSESSED with the pink baby doll dress from Nomad Yard )
Jeans: True Religion, Flats: Frye, Scarf: Bottega Veneta, Sweater: Madewell
Authors note: For all things sweaters – be sure to DEAM (drop everything and MADEWELL) or if you’re a guy DEAJC, because J.Crew is essentially the same thing.
For getting cozy with your S.O./ dog/ settling in for a LOTR marathon:
Pajama set: WILDFOX, Slipper flats: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Necklace: Kendra Scott, Blanket: Chairish, Vintage bourbon decanter: Fab.com
Shop of the Week // Cool D.C. Instagrammer of the Week: Nomad Yard Collectiv
So this week I have rolled them BOTH INTO ONE! Not out of post holiday party hangover laziness (although…) but because I have a new style obsession (just ask my boss- I keep trying to find ways to bring them up in polite conversation). I can almost guarantee they will be your new obsession as well because it might be the best. shop. ever. What am I talking about? Nomad Yard Collectiv of course! One of the coolest vintage shops in town, a collective of smaller vintage collectors all peddling their wares in a gorgeously curated space on the hill above Union Market. We stopped in to pull things for the splendid BYT Gift Guide and I quickly fell in love with everything. They are stylish and wonderful and GO VISIT NOW… also follow them on Instagram for an eye-catching feed which is as entertaining as it is aesthetically pleasing.
