Hey there! Welcome to the fourth edition of District StyleFile. In case you missed us last time, each week we’ll be featuring the news, events, people, and stores that are putting STYLE back into this buttoned-up city.

Fashion News

SnobSwap DC – Malmaison – November 5 – $20

From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Malmaison will turn into a shopping wonderland with pop-up stores from the best consignment shops in D.C. Not only will there be designer brands (such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutin, Céline, etc.), cocktails, light bites from local chefs, and GIFT BAGS, but a portion of the proceeds will benefit Operation Turbo’s mission to send care packages to our deployed service members.

The event will be hosted by style bloggers including Sara from Style MBA, Kim from Sensible Stylista, Natalie from The Fashionably Broke, Anchyi from Anchyi at Work and Angelica from Clarendon Moms for some very necessary style tips.

Sound cool? YES IT DOES! Fortunately StyleFile has a way to get you $10 off tickets! Just use the promo code BYTXSS. Grab those tickets now: bestofsnobswapdc.eventbrite.com

Prepare for cold foreheads! As someone who owns more beanies than pairs of shoes, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the following: beanies are OUT, winter hats are IN. On the one side, we no longer have to worry about achieving that perfect beanie slouch. On the other side, we all now look like cowboys from the 1800’s in our Brixton hats.

THE H&M/BALMAIN COLLABORATION COMES OUT THIS THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5!  We are very prepared to oversleep and miss out on this completely.

Style Sessions – a new service where a personal stylist comes to your house for- wait for it- a style session, is launching in D.C. We will be all over this if we ever find $500 on the Metro (try and find its owner? NO! WE NEED A STYLE SESSION!).

In other news, everyone hates Kate Hudson’s new(ish) athletic wear brand.

Cool D.C. Fashion Instagrammer of the Week: Sensible Stylista
Tired of having your work wardrobe consist mainly of clothes you raided from Ann Taylor’s sale section? Kimberly Kong’s Instagram is full of ways to make business casual actually look fashionable, and more importantly, completely attainable. Join Kimberly (and a group of select other cool fashion blogger hosts) at tomorrow’s Best of SnobSwapDC (see above for code to get $10 off tickets)!

Store of the Week: Chic to Chic
In all honesty, consignment shopping slightly terrifies me. I usually get overwhelmed and end up leaving without buying anything, although I love the IDEA of cheap designer duds. Luckily, Chic to Chic is a treasure trove of designer goodies curated by owner Ellen Didion. SnobSwap co-founder Emily Dang cites the Maryland store as her inspiration to begin the online consignment store website, “My co-founder and sister Elise and I used to shop Chic to Chic way before we even launched SnobSwap! It is part of the inspiration for us to actually launch SnobSwap, we would spend sister Saturdays and go consignment hunting at Chic to Chic.” Fortunately for the rest of us, tomorrow evening we can all shop there without the drive to Maryland! Chic to Chic will be one of the featured stores at Best of SnobSwapDC.
