We visited Del Campo on March 1. It was 80 degrees. We had a cocktail that is ideal for grilling weather. Today, April 14, is the first pleasant Friday since. It’s finally seasonally appropriate to enjoy Del Campo’s Limonada Sucia.
Bar manager Amin Seddiq is doing some delicious things with bitters and punches. The Punched By An Angel with Angels Envy Bourbon, smoked pineapple juice, lemon juice, and peach bitters is another great spring option.
But nothing beats the Limonada Sucia, a drink you could make at home. Seddiq walked us through the relatively simple process. It’s 1.5 oz Tito’s Vodka, .5 oz smoked simple syrup, .5 oz of grilled lemon juice, 2 dashes of lavender bitters and grilled lemon.
Have you grilled lemons? Have you successfully grilled lemons? Are you going to grill enough lemons successfully enough to also produce grilled lemon juice? I have tried and failed.
It’s perfect outside. Start your weekend with a Del Campo’s Limonada Sucia. It may not be new, but it’s what you should drink on a warm, sunny afternoon.
