The outfit I wore to the Spicy Candy DC + South Moon Under lookbook launch party. Can you tell my favorite color is teal?

For some reason, summer came early for the east coast over the weekend because we experienced really warm temperatures. I bought these colored denim jeans a couple weeks ago and have been wearing them nonstop because they add a great pop of color to my regular denim jeans collection. It was hot enough to wear a tank top so I paired the jeans with a casual gray color so the focus would be on the fantastic color of the jeans.

A dress is probably the easiest thing you can pull out of your closet for an effortless wear. That’s how I felt with this colorblocking dress. I wish I could say the same for the weather.
It has been off and on with spring cool temps up to summer warmth. I wish it would stay consistent, so I would know what to expect when dressing in the morning. Times like today is where a blazer can help transition between those temperatures nicely and can turn this outfit into a spring/summer appropriate work outfit in no time.

If it weren’t for the fact that people would look at me kinda funny, I’d probably wear this dress every day. It’s light, airy and I adore the blue/orange color combination. Not to mention it matches my cobalt blue shoes. Hey-ooooo!! I knew as soon as I spotted it in Francesca’s Collections a few weeks back that it would be the perfect addition to my summer wardrobe and so far it’s proving to be just that.

In my photo adventures around town, I always enjoy photographing artists and their super style. This past week I went to the opening ofNext at the Corcoran, which showcases the work of graduating seniors. The art was bananas, but so were the clothes; these kids know how to werk. I’ll be sharing more of my snaps this weekend on GoKateShoot, but wanted to pull some of my favorites for you to check out. As always, I tried to gender balance the mix and offer a range of styles from more conservative to wild ‘n out. There were no fewer than FIVE bolo ties in the room, and color was a hot option across the board. Enjoy!
