We know you’ve all been eagerly awaiting this week’s street style round up, and the wait has been well worth it! This week the lovely, stylish ladies bring us once again their edgy and original personal looks, as well as shots of DC’s street swag. This week we are featuring Ashley’s unique look from La Petite Marmoset, and La Belle Mel’s Melanie shares her casual Sunday’s brunch outfit! Don’t forget to visit their blogs where we guarantee you will get inspired! (oh, and if YOU are a street style blogger and would like to participate in these, let us know, email [email protected]).

My partner, Katherine, of Lpm and I took this dowdy vintage 80s maxi dress and redesigned it into an asymmetrical beauty. We got the inspiration  from a fabulous cut out zara dress. I paired this bright pink dress with black tights to break up to color and added my street vendor floral scarf for dimension. I finished my look with my favorite studded clutch from a boutique in Portland, Or, and my BCBG booties 🙂

Color denim is seriously one of those items that every girl needs in her closet — it makes any casual outfit stand out and you can dress them up or down.  If you’re not into bright colors, pastels is definitely the way to go this spring, but if you feel daring, definitely go all out with a pair of neon colored denim — oh and once it gets hotter in the summer, DIY them into shorts! 😉

Today’s outfit inspiration comes from NYFW Fall 2012. One of the take home messages I got from NYFW, which finished wrapping up a couple of weeks ago, was that tweed and textural mixing will be huge for fall. I guess I got lucky when I unknowingly purchased my tweed jacket over early winter;)

Wearing a bow and a tweed jacket together translates as ultra feminine so I wanted to bring a little bit of edge to the outfit by pairing it with leather shorts for a bit of juxtaposition. I normally wouldn’t think to automatically put leather and tweed together but one of the things I love about fashion is that it inspires you to think outside the box.

I chose this casual, laidback outfit to have brunch with hubby this past Sunday.  I’ve always had a softspot for anything horse-related and when I saw this H&M horse print blouse popping up everywhere but in my closet last month, I knew I had to have it. However, this blouse appeared in H&M stores last Fall!  My heart sank.  Then recently I found a website overseas that had this similar print in stock and immediately bought it without hesitation.  When I got it two weeks later, I was surprised and ecstatic to see that it was the exact same H&M horse print blouse that I wanted.

So this outfit was paired around this blouse and I wanted to go for a slight equestrian look down to my Gucci horsebit hobo bag.  To show off the blouse more, I paired it with this BCBG sweater cardigan over flared jeans. Now that this blouse made its way into my closet, I cannot wait to create more pairings around it!

Even though it was a little chilly this weekend, I was itching to bring out this dress. It’s light, flowy and the adorable mini flower/watercolor print is perfect for spring. For extra warmth, I threw on some boots with socks and this anorak jacket I scored from (you guessed it) Old Navy a few months ago.

I tried my best to cover my pale, almost translucent, legs. As even though I’m ready for spring, they’ll need a bit of self tanner before anything more than my knees see the light of day!

Some people are dog people, some people are cat people. I am definitely cat person and so I was very happy when I got this sweet bag for Christmas. I love kooky accessories that give people little hints to your personality. Top – H&M, Skirt – Vintage, Cat Bag – Christmas present.

As an ex-studio artist, I am often inspired by looks that remind me of art. While out and about, I spotted this amazing look and took these soft focus photos that played with the available light to highlight her ombre dress, exotic hand jewelry, and hard-edged boots in a more painterly way. These photos show how impeccable her style is (hello, hat!), but also how effervescent her personality.
