  • There’s 75,000 square feet of abandoned tunnels underneath of Dupont Circle; which have been used as a trolley station, fallout shelter and food court. Possible projects for the tunnels range from art galleries, to hotels and wineries. (Curbed)

  • Lauren Bacall was known as “the girl with the look.” Bacall passed away yesterday at the age of 89 from a stroke. (NY Times)


  • Good news, everyone! Same-sex marriages may become legal in Virginia in the next seven days. Unless the U.S. Supreme Court intervenes, by August 20th gay couples can finally get a step closer to equality. (WUSA9)



  • The record industry is considering creating a standard release day for all music. While most large labels support the decision to release all new music on Fridays, indie artists and labels are extremely concerned. (Billboard)

  • To leave you with some warm fuzzies, a dog named Zara made it out of the shelter and into the Alexandria K9 Department. Because of her “high energy”, Zara would have most likely not been adopted, and therefore euthanized. Instead, the shelter contacted the Alexandria Police Department and Zara now has a happy, healthy home. (NBC Washington)
