  • A fundraiser started by Lucky Dog Rescue for a puppy that was born without a front right paw (insert awwwww here) raised enough money for the pup to be given a prosthetic paw so that the leg did not have to be amputated. (via DCist)

  • In other adorable animal news, the Smithsonian announced the discovery of a new species described as a cross between a “house cat and teddy bear'” and is “the first mammalian carnivore species to be newly identified in 35 years.” Sooo…where can we got one? (via CNN)
  • The International Association of Firefighters deems D.C.’s Emergency Medical Services system (aka the paramedics who are supposed to help you in an emergency) as one of the worst in the country. Comforting, right? (via WJLA)
  • It probably doesn’t help that ambulances keep catching fire. (via WaPo)

  • A new trend in the fast food industry is to be “innovative.” Check out who’s winning and who’s failing miserably. (via HuffPo)
