WHEREIN: We bring you the developments (happening in and around D.C.) that we think are newsworthy, or, at the very least, almost newsworthy:
- In not D.C. news Ursula K. Le Guin is dead and I’m bummed about it.
- Facebook has identified the man who spit on a Qualia Coffee employee and it looks like he has quite the reputation of harassing female staff. Also, the staff at Meridian Pint call him “Baby Dick” and it brings a smile to my heart.
- Maryland is the third worst state to drive in! Virginia is the 13th best state to drive in. I guess that settles that age old debate.
- And speaking of Virginia, a local shelter dog is going to “compete” in this years Puppy Bowl and that makes me so deeply happy.
- Mount Pleasant’s new bakery is open with limited hours and a limited menu, but it looks fantastic.
- Not everyone’s excited about the new streetcar project.
- Secret Service requested Emergency Services after they discovered a man with a loaded gun in his car near the White House, but a 911 dispatcher sent the fire crew to the wrong address. In those situations do you just ghost your job and never come back?
- People are being racist against dockless bikeshare riders on community listservs. Goddamn was that embarrassing to type. Get your act together people.
- You can use bitcoin to buy a condo now. Do what you will with that information.
- Beef ’N Bread is turning into a poke joint (nooooooooooooo) but you still have some time to say goodbye.
- And speaking of food, The Inn at Little Washington is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a series special dinners. One of the events involves flying out to Paris.
- The flu has hit D.C. and it’s a nasty one. Try not to get sick!
