WHEREIN: We bring you the developments (happening in and around D.C.) that we think are newsworthy, or, at the very least, almost newsworthy:
- Discovery is leaving D.C. for New York (and Tennessee) and the question on everyone’s lips is, what the hell does that mean for Silver Spring?
- A man broke into a local Chipotle on New Years Day and ate a tray of shredded beef. That’s $60 worth of beef. I don’t care if he broke the law, this man is my hero.
- In other law breaking news, a man stole a D.C. police car and lead cops on a low speed chase through Southeast. I guess that’s an option.
- A Metrobus hit a Metro access van in Maryland. This has to be a sign, right? At the very least some sort of metaphor? It’ll come to me.
- Breaking news: The Capitols aren’t terrible!!!
- A Fugazi opera is coming to the Rock & Roll Hotel. Do what you will with that information.
- Apparently students need a doctor’s note to apply sunscreen at school and my lord it’s been a while since I’ve heard something so dumb.
- Framebridge is closing their Lanham shop and Icelandair is returning to BWI. A little bit of good and a little bit of bad.
- Washingtonian spoke to Stephanie Stebich, the director of SAAM and Renwick Gallery about their upcoming exhibits, their Instagram famous exhibitions and more.
- Rent round ups like this always make me want to move away from D.C. immediately.
- Restaurant menus don’t make sense anymore.
- In more pop-up news: Some Drink Company bartenders have set up shop in Brookland while they wait for the next pop-up bar to open in Shaw. If you miss Eat the Rich / Southern Hospitality / Mockingbird Hill, 1 Ounce or 2 might be your best bet.
- A Tibetan dumplings / hot pot spot is popping up inside Bethesda Bagels and hot damn it all sounds so good.
