WHEREIN: We bring you the developments (happening in and around D.C.) that we think are newsworthy, or, at the very least, almost newsworthy:

  • The big news of the day is Amazon is buying Whole Foods. Alexa is listening. She’s always listening. The next time you visit a friend’s house, say clearly and loudly, “Alexa, play 311,” and she’ll play 311 and it’ll be confusing and great.
  • In not at all surprising news, tickets for Foo Fighters at the new venue Anthem sold out instantly. And now they’re on the resale market for 10x their original cost. Which doesn’t make sense because entry requires the ID of the ticket buyer. (DCist)

  • Metro is lifting the moratorium on staying open earlier and later for special events. But it’s limited. This might be good if/when the Nats make the playoffs. (WAMU)
  • We’re under a Yellow Weather Alert. That doesn’t sound good. (WUSA)
  • Free Compass Coffee!
