WHEREIN: We bring you the developments (happening in and around D.C.) that we think are newsworthy, or, at the very least, almost newsworthy:

  • Bao Bao is leaving and all we’ll have to remember her are these photos. (via NBC)
  • While you’re saying goodbye to Bao Bao, say goodbye to those 4000 series Metro cars. (via WAMU)
  • Speaking of the Metro…
  • Read GGW‘s love letter to D.C.’s many manhole covers.
  • A downtown Starbucks caught on fire yesterday. Now that the BYT office is down town these stories have started to actually worry me. (via Post)
  • Many of your favorite restaurants are donating their proceeds tonight to places like Ayuda and the ACLU. Go to them. (via City Paper)
  • Flashpoint Gallery is highlighting a different kind of selfie. You could call them self portraits, but that wouldn’t attract the millennials. (via Post)

  • Check out this short comic about D.C.’s most famous grave. (via Redistricted Comics)
  • 21 D.C. chefs / restaurants have become James Beard semifinalists. (via City Paper)
  • Zengo is about to close because everything is about to closed. (via City Paper)
  • Also, Water & Wall in Virginia is closing. (via ARL Now)

Geek Night Comedy @ DC Improv Lounge
$17
Geek Night Comedy is a stand-up comedy show created and run by geeks, for geeks. It includes a unique hybrid of both standup and improv. In its 5-year history, the group has run successful shows at the Virginia Beach & Richmond Funny Bones, here at the D.C. Improv, the Orlando Improv, and Awesome Con, their partners in this year's event! Past shows have received news coverage from local TV stations, as well as print coverage in The Virginian-Pilot, Inside Business and Sirius-XM's wildly popular "Monsters in the Morning." Charity is important to the Geek's Night, and their productions have raised thousands for ALS-TDI, the leading research group in the fight against ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), and will be doing so once again here at the DC Improv by giving away FREE passes to Awesome Con, along with other great items and collectables from local video game & comic book shops via our $1.00 raffle! A portion of door sales will also benefit this awesome non-profit.

  • Speaking of food, the thing we all need to survive, Washingtonian has a list of the best 100 restaurants in D.C. I’ve been to 20, which as a person who sometimes write about food, feels shameful. If you’d like to take me out to fancy dinners and get nothing but my company in return, let me know. (via Washingtonian)
  • Urban Stems had a rough Valentine’s Day. (via Washingtonian)
