DC Beer Brunches

Maybe the amount of mimosas and Bloody Mary’s you end up drinking at brunch disheartens you because all you really want is beer. Maybe you’re wondering how beer would go with pancakes but can’t be bothered to make any pancakes/never remember to buy eggs. Maybe you just really like beer. Whatever your deal is, if you want beer with your brunch these are the spots for you. Also, Snallygaster is this Saturday. That’s the big beer fest for big beer nerds. Beer nerds like brunch.

City Tap House

City Tap designed their brunch menu to go well with their craft beer selection, so you should honor that work by pairing some biscuits and gravy or lemon ricotta pancakes with any one of their beers or their  special brunch Beermosa.

Scion

Scion’s brunch menu opens with a selection of six brunch beers, so you know they’re not here to play. They also have the rare wonder of mac and cheese on their brunch menu, and it’s made with five cheeses. I don’t know about you, but there’s no way I’d rather start a weekend morning than with five types of cheese and a breakfast-y beer.

Biergarten Haus

Skip the usual benedicts and mimosas in favor of some savory German-inspired options, including  brauen/brat/knackwursts and the West Berlin Omelette. Pair up your German food with a German drink like a Radler, a cola weisen, a mimosa made with Schöffehofer Grapefruit and vodka, or their signature brunch drink- a liter glass of Schöffehofer Grapfruit with a shot of fireball in it. If you don’t think that sounds delicious, you’re lying.

Granville Moore’s

The brunch menu at Granville Moore’s includes mussels alongside Belgian twists on classic brunch staples like shrimp and grits and breakfast scrambles. Drinks-wise they have a selection of brunch alcohols that spans beyond Bloody Marys and mimosas into Kentucky Mules and a selection of light breakfast beers including a changing Belgian fruit lambic option.

Drafting Table

Drafting Table’s brunch menu has any and every comfort food brunch dish you could want. So many eggs- scrambled, croque madame-ed, benedict-ed, etc.- as well as french toast, falafel and burgers in case you’re not all about the eggs. All of their brunch items are perfectly suited to compliment their impressive selection of beers on tap.
