There is no doubt that the District will never be a Paris, Milan, Berlin or NYC. But we have to give credit where credit is due.
The District hails a variety of people.. from the young, to the beautiful, to the intelligent and all thats in between. These unique people bring a vast variety of style and fashion that ultimately fuel the culture of the district. This column is here to document the unique style of the amazing individuals who walk the city streets..as the great Alexander McQueen said himself, “It’s a new era in fashion – there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together.”
When you know how to wear them, white pants are really OK year-round. The look excellent dressed up with a straight leg style and paired with something chicer such as closed toed pair of shoes..What a way to make a bold style statement!
This is a great example of how a lady can rock a bowler hat, however what really caught my eye were her metallic sleeves. I also enjoyed her vintage shoes with the plaid fabric! And of course she looks so cool–she’s in a band.
The variations of blue set a nice masculine tone to his outfit, complimented by his eye-catching accessories. Also noteworthy was his vintage Tommy Hilfiger Bag.
Bow ties in a casual setting are a serious trend now. I loved her incorporation of different variations of patterns to make her bow tie stand out (yes, she makes them herself)! Check out her bow ties here!
Careful inspection reveals the artistry in this outfit. Each accessory was handcrafted and hand sewn, making the outfit truly one of a kind. And of course we spotted another bow tie, this one made from the traditional African Kente cloth!
