Dahlak is a little sweatbox of a space that launched popular DC parties Mixtape and Peach Pit. By day, it is an Eritrean restaurant. But, at night it clears its tables and opens its bar to some of DC’s most innovative nightlife collaborators.

Like Mixtape and Peach Pit (both of which outgrew the restaurant space at 18th & U Streets, NW) the monthly Thursday-night party CTRL packs in a crowd of mostly gay men to sweat and dance. There really isn’t a theme to the night, except really good music.

Growing in popularity since this spring, CTRL manages to pack Dahlak each month despite keeping an underground and word-of-mouth status. The party is the brainchild of Jeff Prior, Adam Koussari-Amin and the Pocket Gays (Devon Trotter and Brett Andriesen), each taking a turn DJing during the night.

Ahead of its Thursday party, the CTRL gang brings us a preview with a mega-mix by DJ Jeff Prior.
