In this column, I cover songs for you to nod your head to in the EDM scene [electronic dance music, not extra dancey music, for those not in the know].
The upcoming edition of Forecast features yet another gloriously thunderous bass line-up, including local favorites Refugee and Jett Chandon–ascertain you are appropriately prepared for the elements by securing your place early and taking shelter at the 9:30 Backbar.
- Yancey Boys feat. Common and Dezi Page – “Quicksand“
From the J. Dilla camp comes this next-level track…I mean would you expect anything less!? J. Dilla’s brother Illa J and Frank Nitt release their new album, Sunset Blvd, and it is all kinds of wonderful.
- Lana Del Rey – “Summertime Sadness (Hannes Fischer Remix)”
Easily the best remix of this track, celebrate the end of summer in an appropriate way.
- Fat Joe feat. Action Bronson – “Your Honor”
On his way to a four month stint in prison for tax evasion, Fat Joe reminds everyone why he is still repping NYC, hard, over this DJ Premier track.
- Lorde – “Royals (The Weeknd Remix)”
An appropriately luxurious remix that definitely rules over the original, which is getting significant mainstream radio plays.
- Steffaloo + Chrome Sparks – “Eyes For You“
Dream pop at its finest. I only have ears for this one, for sure.
