LANCENEPTUNE with Ashley Poole — Monday, December 8th @ DC9
Maryland-based producer, LanceNeptune creates ambient and atmospheric electronic music, calling to mind the work of another great producer, Tycho. LanceNeptune’s tunes are celestial, warm, and calming — perfect for lounging around the house during the colder months. Some of his standout tracks include “Pink Violet” and “Galast.”

PHOX with The Head and the Heart — Tuesday, December 9th @ 9:30 Club
With a name as fun as Phox, it makes sense that their music is also just as fun. Lead singer Monica Martin’s voice pairs beautifully with the backing instrumentals her band provides. Phox’s music falls under the alternative folk / indie pop spectrum, and as someone who’s not a huge fan of folk music, Phox just might be able to convince me otherwise. Their music is springy, making me yearn for warmer days.

RICKY EAT ACID with Cymbals Eat Guitars — Wednesday, December 10th @ DC9
Slick beats and arrhythmic percussion are signature features of any Ricky Eat Acid track, which provide the backing music for the muffled vocals that are looped over. His tracks are just layers upon layers of various noises, which sound discordant and chaotic at times, but are never unpleasant to listen to. Check out “‘angels’” and “this goes out to…”

SPIRIT ANIMAL with Jamaican Queens — Tuesday, December 9th @ Black Cat
My first thought when listening to Spirit Animal is that their music is incredibly anthemic. Their tracks are catchy, accessible, but still have some grit to them. They are band that has full confidence in their sound, as every song of theirs has a punchy rock and roll vibe. Their latest track, “Party in the Back,” features the band showcasing a slightly different sound: funkier, with more electronic influences.
