The upright bass is prominent in the music of Lowercase Letters, but what will really get you is their singer’s gorgeous voice. After dropping a fabulous full-length eponymous debut back in November, Lowercase Letters are rapidly making a name for themselves in D.C. and beyond.
With music ranging from spoken word lyrics alongside circuit-bent chaos to delicate vocal harmonies over acoustic guitar riffs, (even within the same song) Linear Downfall from Nashville doesn’t sound quite like anything else. They’ll be playing first in a lineup that also includes Paperhaus and Desert Noises, so be sure to get to DC9 early on Thursday.
The D.C. area’s own Hello Dharma is one of many excellent bands booked at the Tree House Lounge on Friday night. Hello Dharma’s lead guitar recalls 80’s power-metal, while the groups lyric’s are down-to-earth and highly relatable, setting up Tree House Lounge for an excellent night of hard-rocking.
Head over to Capital Fringe’s Trinidad Theatre on Friday to catch this FREE show with Heavy Breathing. The D.C.-based band’s music is delightfully fun and weird and is well worth the nonexistent ticket price.
Though primarily an instrumental act, Yonatan Gat’s frenetic guitar will provide quite a spectacle at the 9:30 club. The complex interplay between the guitar and the frantic drums will engage listeners and get people stoked for of Montreal’s weirdness.
