We spent a better part of May proudly working on: Smithsonian Project Pride Virtual Concert & Time Capsule, in collaboration with Smithsonian’s Pride Alliance. The pre-program premiered May 31st at 8pm ET; intended to kick off Pride Month, it is an uplifting celebration of the creativity, resilience and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community both historically and now. Clearly this has been a month of action and reflection, and not everyone observed Pride in the same way, but we do hope you’ve found moments to celebrate yourself and the LGBTQ+ community, as well as the crucial contributions that have been made by Black trans and queer people (click here for ways to demand rights for them and support and protect them always, and not just in June). Closing out the month, we’d like to remind you that the Project Pride program is available for whenever you need it; it’s a positive and reflective viewing experience, and we hope it will bolster a sense of intersectional queer pride and community both this year and beyond.
