  • Charmpop quirkmen We Are Scientists headline Lincoln Hall’s Noise For Toys benefit show, with guests The Noise FM and Highchair Kings.
  • The Logan Square Emporium Arcade Bar hosts the release party for the first offering from Maplewood Brewery & Distillery! Dope!
  • Bill MacKay, Jeremy Lemos, and Matt Jencik play a very good quality all-locals show at the Empty Bottle.
  • Sensitive emo fellas Copeland reunite for a special evening of extralong music set for all you Copeland fans out there.
  • Hugely talented music writer for the Chicago Reader Leor Galil hosts the third installment of the City Bureau’s Public Newsroom Workshop. This is very much worth checking out.
  • Emily Nichols, Iverson, and Boycut play the Wicker Park Emporium this eve.
  • The Logan Theatre has a late night screening of Conan The Barbarian.




  • Lock the DAMN gates! It’s time to see Marc Maron live at The Vic!

  • Heavy ass show comin straight for your dome at the Empty Bottle. Earthless, Ruby The Hatchet, and Marmora on deck to bring the rock.
  • High quality found footage/standup comedy showcase VHS returns to its home base of @North for another evening of riffin on weirdo tapes!
  • Internet video game live stream youtube podcast thing Game Grumps bring their very confusing entity to the Chicago Theatre. What is it? I don’t know, dude.
  • Late night talk show Good Evening is back for it’s 26th installment, it’s gonna be a good one!
  • The Hideout’s Interview show The Interview Show has guests like Stephanie Izard, Patrick Klepek, and Daniel Bliss.
  • Stick around the Hideout after the Interview Show for a good lookin indie rock show featuring Ultimate Painting, EZTV, and Deeper.
  • Lounge cover novelty act Richard Cheese is at Thalia Hall tonight, for all you fans of funny music.

  • Comedy show/brunch party/etc. event The Late Late Breakfast is BACK at The Hideout this afternoon.
  • Head to the Music Box for another edition of their limited run singalong versions of The Sound of Music!
  • It’s holiday time so that means time to buy nice thoughtful things for those for whom you care. Thankfully we have Renegade Craft Fair!
  • Elastic Arts hosts an extremely edifying and timely workshop on how to help out when you see a piece of shit jackass screaming at someone on the street for existing. It’s called the Bystander Intervention and De-Escalation Tactics Workshop and I’m very interested in checking this out.
  • Local outlaw country lifers Bloodshot Records has a popup shop happening at their headquarters on Irving Park just in time for the holidays. VERY NICE.
  • Popular Chicago-based indie rockers Whitney play two sold-out shows at Thalia Hall this weekend so if you didn’t already grab tickets to those I would NORMALLY say you were outta luck. Not this time, though! They’re playing an instor at Reckless Wicker Park this afternoon. Hella chill.
