  • Well known and much beloved novelty musician and late night horror TV host Ghouldini may have died nearly 60 years ago, but he returns from the grave for one night only, tonight at iO, with special appearances from The Devil, a “creepy witch,” and a “vampire mixologist,” among others. (This is a comedy show that will be very good and you should go).
  • Indie folk masters Ida, featuring Elizabeth Mitchell and Daniel Littleton appear at the Old Town School of Folk Music.
  • Go see Gnash, Mark Johns, Goody Grace, and Triangle Park at Lincoln Hall if you’re into those bands.
  • Schubas has the opportunity for you to have an evening with Ellis Paul!
  • Squash Bowels, Malas, Brodequin, Corphagy, and Inner Decay bring the aggro noise rock to the Empty Bottle! 4 true heads only!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • The Lincoln Park Zoo’s got another after-dark, no kidz aloud event, this one’s called Wild Spirits and there’s liquor all over the place for you to drink while looking at animals.
  • Haybaby, Glamour Hotline, Evasive Backflip, and Bloom perform music live onstage in the Downstairs space of Subterranean for one night only.
  • A thing called VanLadyLove is happening at Schubas and James & The Drifters is opening. I dunno!

  • Cool punk gals unite this afternoon at the Empty Bottle for the Fall Flair festival, a DIY market featuring some of the best pin, patch, and craft vendors in the city on site, selling their wares.
  • All day music festival featuring a ton of acts performing sans amplification of any kind happening at The Hideout. It’s POWOPA and it’s got a good lineup.
  • Comfort Station’s got a lecture from Edra Soto, a Chicago-based artist in house to discuss her celebrated and critically acclaimed work.
  • C.W. Stoneking, featuring WT Newton & The Ozark Band, perform at Beat Kitchen in a concert full of men with initials for names.
  • You Had To Be There is a high-concept comedy show that tasks standup comics with the unenviable duty of navigating the tawdry world of anonymous webcam chat sites, attempting to perform comedy to complete strangers on sites like ChatRoulette. Check it out at At North tonight only!
  • Head to Montrose Harbor to run in or just support those participating in the Stride Against Violence 5k Run/Walk this morning.
  • Electronic/neo-classical composer Johann Johannsson plays a rare show at Thalia Hall this evening. This will be good as heck.
  • White Fang, No Parents, Birth Defects, and TV Slime all play the Empty Bottle tonight. Damn that’s a lot of bands with two words in their names!
