- Can you feel it? That’s 1000000 teens coming to town for Lollapalooza, baby!!!! It’s four days long this year and WOW do they have a big lineup full of bands. Today, Thursday, you can see acts like J. Cole, Lana Del Rey, Kurt Vile, and Danny Brown.
- So there are approx. 40 Lollapalooza aftershows happening every night this weekend. We’re only going to tell you about the ones for which you can still get tickets, because I care deeply for you and don’t want to mislead you with information about extremely sold out shows. For example, you can see Mø and Alle Farben at Lincoln Hall. Tickets are *almost* sold out so act fast here!
- Cherub plays an official Lolla aftershow at Park West.
- G-Eazy is at Prysm Nightclub for a Lollafterparty.
- Joey Purp’s iiiDrops is one of the best albums of the year and you can see him do a Lollapalooza afterparty at Reggies before he becomes super famous.
- Dinosaur Jr., Ne-Hi, and Arbor Labor Union are playing a free show at the Hard Rock Hotel (!!!) Be sure to RSVP or you won’t get in.
- 4th annual Argyle Night Market brings artisanal wares to the far North side!
- Minneapolis pop weirdos On An On headline the Empty Bottle, with opening sets from Val Son and Shy Technology.
- Tonight’s the final night of the Music Box’s excellent Chicago French Film Festival. Catch screenings of News From Planet Mars and Les Cowboys.
- Rock bands Caustic Casanova, Snow Burial, Rollo Tomasi, and Ashell play Beat Kitchen.
- The Hat Stretchers play an early show tonight at The Hideout!
- And then later on at the Hideout you can catch Canadian country outsider Bloodshot Bill, Johnny and the Jerks, and Gentleman John Battles!
- Lollapadaytwoza. Headlining sets from Radiohead, Future, Major Lazer, and M83, daytime sets from folks like A$AP Ferg, Frank Turner, and Modern Baseball.
- Queercore festival Fed Up Fest 2016 is back and ready for another round of inclusive, all-ages DIY punk shows at the Auxiliary Arts Center and the Black Couch Studio all weekend long. Tonight’s at the Auxiliary Arts Center, with musical guests Mermain N.V., WEB, Atta Boi, and many more!
- Just like yesterday, I’m only here to tell you about the *not* sold-out Lollapalooza afterparties. Why bother otherwise, right? Rooftop bar ROOF 27 features music from Audien, Niko The Kid, and Mr. Brown tonight.
- Foals DJ the River North location of Headquarters Beercade after Lolla!
- Lolla afterparty at the Aragon featuring Flosstradamus tonight!
- Bloopman Diplo is doing a Lolla afterparty at the Studio Paris nightclub.
- Old school emo trailblazer Jeremy Enigk plays a solo show tonight with Into It. Over it. at the Beat Kitchen’s official Lolla after-thing.
- Rap man Mac Miller is at Concord Music Hall for a post-Lolla party show.
- Bro Safari! That’s something! They’re at Evilolive tonight for an official Lolla post-hang.
- There’s a party at Township benefiting Everytown, a movement to help end gun violence, featuring music from All Eyes West, Josh & Eli Caterer from the Smoking Popes, Tim Kinsella, and many more!
- Two good films showing at midnight (points!!) tonight at the Music Box. Check out The Guest, which is one of the most underrated films of the last few years, or gorefest A Cat In The Brain tonight!
- Athens, GA-based duo act Yip Deceiver plays the Hideout with guests McFabulous.
- Dollar Signs, Dog & Wolf, and Otto Man play the downstairs space at Subterranean

- Ira Glass appears at a series of screenings of the new Mike Birbiglia film Don’t Think Twice at the Music Box! Damn!
- Also screening at the Music Box today is the technicolour Marilyn Monroe vehicle Niagara.
- Fed Up Fest continues with a series of afternoon workshops and panels.
- The Former Wabash YMCA in Bronzeville hosts the first annual Chicago Poetry Block Party, a monumental cultural event featuring live poetry performances, as well as music, art, and workshops from some of the city’s best and most influential writers!
- Down Town Chicago features over 1,000 feet of slip-slidey wet vinyl laid out all over Montrose Beach for all y’all lookin to slide around a little bit.
- The Bughouse Square Debates celebrates its 30th anniversary in Washington Square Park, celebrating freedom of speech through reasonable, passionate discourse.
- The Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet hosts the Insane Inflatable 5K obstacle course that’s like a BOUNCY HOUSE on STEROIDS that will be a hit with all you color run goofballs.

- Fed Up Fest continues into the evening with music from ONO, No Approach, Rifle Diet, SISSYFIT, and more!

- I AM RAPAPORT is not a modern art exhibition dedicated to the fine arts work of actor Michael Rapaport. It’s a podcast hosted by Michael Rapaport and two of his childhood friends. They’re gonna sit on stage together and talk at Lincoln Hall tonight!
- Winded City and Seagiraffe play Schubas.
