FREE: The Empty Bottle’s Free Music Monday has another rager for you: this one featuring the best and brightest in Midwestern psych rock, including Diagonal, Plastic Crimewave Syndicate, Lake of Fire, and Black Road.
MUSIC: Paramore brings their After Laughter Summer Tour thru Chicago over at Northerly Island tonight, joined by special guests Foster the People.
OUTSIDE: Check out a screening of The Truman Show at Burnham Park. Underrated movie in a great setting folks!!!!!
STAGE: The Hideout’s weekly comedy series is back with a variety show hosted by Alan Ford Giles called Domeheads Attack.
STAY IN: Recently added to Netflix? Oh just Happy Gilmore and the first three Jurassic Park movies. Hell yeah no outside summer 2018.

CULTURE: Atlas Obscura and the Chicago History Museum team up for an event called Grave Robbing 101, as Atlas Obscura’s Adam Selzer leads a tour of Lincoln Park showcasing the sordid history of grave robbing in Chicago.
FILM: The Music Box’s monthlong celebration of the life and work of Robin Williams begins tonight with a screening of the Disney classic Aladdin. I think Aladdin probably holds up, right? Let’s go find out.
FOOD + DRINK: New Avondale favorite Sleeping Village’s $1 Beer Night is back, with musical guests Unmanned Ship, Dogs In Ecstasy, PopLife, and Mines.
FREE: Free Concert in Welles Park, showcasing Sean Cleland & Friends’ traditional Irish Dance music.
MUSIC: The 4th Annual Chicago House Club Tour is basically a house music pub crawl, featuring a tour of the South Side’s vibrant music scene that help shape an entire generation’s worth of electronic music.
OUTSIDE: Oakfest out in Oak Forest starts up today, with free admission and plenty of drinks, food, and local vendors. Plus bingo!
STAGE: Mystery Science Theatre 3000 fan meetup Down In Front convenes upon At North in Wicker Park to watch and roast the hokey but extremely popular Pirates of the Caribbean.
STAY IN: Netflix’s new 15 minute standup comedy series The Comedy Lineup drops tonight! Tons of great folks doing one half of one half hour for your pleasure.
ACTIVE: It’s the fourth of July and that means it’s time to blast your red, white, and glutes at CorePower Yoga.
CULTURE: A special, extremely patriotic edition of Jazzin’ at the Shedd Aquarium goes down tonight.
FILM: Head to the Field Museum for another installation of their ongoing Fossils & Flicks series, featuring a screening of The Lion King paired with a showcase of fossils from Africa.
FOOD + DRINK: Wanna feast on some damn buffet food while watching fireworks from the water? May I recommend the Independence Day Fireworks Cruise?
FREE: The Chicago History Museum is free to all Illinois residents (and non residents too if you just like, act cool about it), this is the perfect time to drop by too, and enjoy their 59th annual Fourth of July Celebration, which features a parade, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and more.
MUSIC: Skip the typical fireworks display and see musical fireworks in the form of Kool & The Gang and The Commodores live at the Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin tonight!
OUTSIDE: Aon Summer Fireworks Presented By Miller Lite at Navy Pier. Perfect.
STAGE: U think the laughs stop at the Laugh Factory just because it’s a national holiday? Think again!!!!!!! Comedy competition/stand up showcase Verified Laughs hits the LF 2night at 8.
STAY IN: What if instead of sweating it out in a big crowded mess down by Navy Pier you just chilled @ home in the AC and watched Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. You’ve seen them in real life plenty of times, what if you watched them on TV instead?????
