Did you see the Bentzen Ball / Family Hemerlein show last night? That was some good stuff. This song has nothing to do with any of it. But it’s a stone cold blues classic. I Just Want to Make Love To You by Muddy Waters (with Little Walter on harmonica) has been covered by just about everyone, and certain subsequent reinterpretations have then been covered by others. The Rolling Stones, Etta James, and Foghat all had success with it and then there is the verse Violent Femmes immortalized in Gone Daddy Gone which Gnarls Barkley later released as a single, and the list goes on; Chuck Berry, Meat Puppets, The Dead, The Yardbirds, etc. I bet if Willie Dixon (who wrote it for Waters) was still alive, he’d feel like a bad ass.
