I had to put together a 4 hour playlist for our (super fun) Local Tourist: Spy Museum party last Friday, so even though that’s over, I’m still in spy mode.

Here is the irrepressible Soul Bossa Nova by Quincy Jones from his 1962 album Big Band Bossa Nova. It was heavily used in radio and tv shows throughout the 60s and 70s, and then took a little break before exploding back in the still hilarious title sequence for Austin Powers. The flute part is played by the late great Rahsaan Roland Kirk, who can claim Jonny Greenwood, Jimi Hendrix, Thurston Moore, and Eric Burdon amongst his many fans.
