I’m currently devouring the 33 1/3 book on Black Sabbath’s 1971 heavy metal prog monster Master of Reality. The book is written by John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats as journal entries of a fifteen-year-old boy being held in an adolescent psychiatric center in 1985. Which is as amazing as it sounds. He goes into much detail on the power of opening track Sweet Leaf, while admitting that a love song about weed is pretty stupid. But that’s why he can relate to Ozzy. Ozzy wrote a stupid, albeit totally awesome, song. You could hang out with Ozzy. Robert Plant, not so much.
