Since we’re taking a bus to Virgin Fest this weekend and inviting everyone to join, let’s do some bus songs.
First up we need to go with the classic single Bus Stop by seminal Machester 60s pop band The Hollies. It was written by one of the Hollies early songwriters Graham Gouldman, later of 10cc, and went to become their first hit in the US. Actually the catchy first lines Bus stop, wet day, she’s there, I say, please share my umbrella were written by his dad. Gouldman said in an interview 30 years later “when you have such a great start to a song it’s kind of like the rest is easy. It’s like finding your way onto a road and when you get onto the right route, you just follow it.”
