DC surf rockers Bottled Up are back with a new music video for “1-800 Dipsh*t”, the first single off of their sophomore EP BU2. Coming in slightly over two and a half minutes, the song is a pulsating track equal parts nihilism and defiance, and the darkly humorous video, directed by David Ashton, adds another layer of depth and storytelling.
The band recorded the entirety of the seven track extended play at bandleader Nikhil Rao’s home (affectionately referred to as “Biko’s Basement Lounge” by the band) with producer Tommy Sherrod of Full Glass Studio. Sherrod and the band decided to record in a makeshift space to more accurately capture the DIY sound and feel from their songwriting and rehearsal sessions, and the result is an EP that sounds gritty, electrifying, and true to Bottled Up as any live performance.
Bottled Up are performing at DC9 on Wednesday, November 14th opening for Airpark and Babe Club. BU2 is available now on Spotify.
