It’s going to be hot forever.

Every Thursday at 9 a.m we mail you our Best Weekend Bets. Best Weekday Bets are similar to our Best Weekend Bets but they’re longer. It’ll still be hot this weekend.

ACTIVE: Drawing is an activity. Spend the afternoon in the air conditioned Luce Foundation Center at their Sketching: Draw and Discover event.

CULTURE: Artistic Freedom Initiative: Revolutions & Movements begins at Dupont Underground. The program continues through September 9 and begins with Marjan Farsad in concert.

FILM: The AFI Silver Kubrick retrospective continues with The Shining.

FOOD + DRINK: We loved Rye Street Tavern each time we visited because of their whiskey, food and setting. Tonight they’re teaming up with Dogfish Head for a Brewer’s Dinner. If you need an excuse to head to Baltimore, this is a good excuse.

FREE: Take advantage of living in D.C. and enjoy the Liszt Recital – Concert at the Embassy of Hungary. Free with RSVP.

MUSIC: The show of the night is Miguel at The Anthem.

OUTSIDE: It’s too hot to recommend anything that requires movement. So go out on the patio of The Anthem before Miguel’s set. That’s enough outdoors for the day.

STAGE: Folger’s new production of Macbeth begins tonight.

STAY IN: Yes. Stay in. Too hot. Watch the season of The Great British Baking Show that was just added to Netflix but don’t bake a cake because it’s too hot.

ACTIVE: Watch the Nats take on the Cards at home. It’s so hot outside it’ll feel like you worked out.

CULTURE: The Goethe-Institut Washington hosts the opening reception for Astrid Riecken: Samantha Series.

FILM: Leave work early and catch a screening of Yasujiro Ozu’s 1962 film An Autumn Afternoon at the Freer.

FOOD + DRINK: Meet up with your baseball pals at Mission Navy Yard before the Nats game. It’s the largest indoor bar near the stadium.

FREE: Very interested in checking out the “Music as a Strategy of Cultural Policy in Nazi Germany” lecture at the Austrian Cultural Forum Washington.

MUSIC: Another night, another good show at The Anthem. Tonight it’s Mac DeMarco.

OUTSIDE: Ready to kick off polo season? Of course you are! Top of the Gate hosts the Polo Classic Kick-off Party.

STAGE: Chapo Trap House records at 9:30 Club. You know if this is for you.

STAY IN: Watch the season 13 (!?!) premiere of It’s Always Sunny.
