FOOD + DRINK: Tomatoes are the best fruit. The best. I’d eat tomatoes, mushrooms and onions in every meal. Anyway, Jaleo kicks off their Tomatina Festival, their annual ode to the tomato and nod to Spain’s famous tomato-fight festival. It runs through September 9. We’ll most likely recommend it again since we love tomatoes and Jaleo and can’t afford to go to Spain in the next two weeks.
FREE: City Winery hosts Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Women’s Equality Day Mixer.
MUSIC: Man-that-doesn’t-age Chris Isaak is at The Birchmere.
OUTSIDE: All-you-can-eat crab son the Nationals field while the team is away. The game will be on the big board. They still have a chance to make the playoffs. It’s unlikely but possible. Either way, crabs.
STAGE: Post Shift Theatre presents a Night of New Works featuring six 10-minute plays by local playwrights at Republic Restoratives.
