We’ve skipped spring. Welcome to summer.

Every Thursday at 9 a.m we mail you our Best Weekend Bets. Best Weekday Bets are similar to our Best Weekend Bets but there’s more options since it’s more socially acceptable to have more fun on the weekend.

ACTIVE: Do you like running and then immediately drinking back all of the calories you burned while you ran? Do you just want a semi-healthy excuse to drink beer on a Monday night? Then hit up Joggers & Lagers at Port City.

CULTURE: Meet our new robot over lords at the Hirshhorn. I don’t know why we’re filing this under culture. It just felt right.

FILM: D.C.’s best (/only) weirdo film club, the Washington Psychotronic Film Society is screening Bangkok Loco at Smoke & Barrel.

FOOD + DRINK: City Tap House is having a sour tap takeover tonight. Are sours the new IPAs? Does that sentence even make sense? Is everything just a buzzword now?

FREE: Astronomy on Tap is a free series hosted at DC9 that makes space talk something acceptable to do in a bar.

MUSIC: Kate Nash at 9:30 Club.

OUTSIDE: It’s going to be 70 degrees today. When was the last time you went to the arboretum?

STAGE: Read our behind the scenes of Arena Stage’s Snow Child and then go see Snow Child.

STAY IN: Michelle Eileen McNamara’s I’ll Be Gone in the Dark is blowing up. Pick up your favorite true crime book (whether it’s a classic like Helter Skelter , like some cheap candles you bought at CVS and settle in for a creepy Monday night.

ACTIVE: Jump up and down and yell and lift heavy pints of beer at The Black Squirrel‘s Caps watch party. That’s exercise, right?

CULTURE: Catch some weird Russian animation at Suns Cinema. I don’t actually know if any of these shorts are weird. I’m just going to assume.

FILM: If you haven’t seen The Rider yet, head over to the Angelika or Bethesda Row. And bring some tissues with you.

FOOD + DRINK: Hit up some sweet tacos and trivia at Slash Run. Even if you don’t know anything, at least there will be tacos.

FREE: Go to Upshur Street Books for casual, fun and lighthearted reading of Blindsided by the Taliban.

MUSIC: Catch Lizzo opening for Haim at The Anthem. We can’t wait until Lizzo is headlining her own Anthem shows.

OUTSIDE: Go to the historic plant sale at Mount Vernon! Buy an old plant!

STAGE: See some sweet heavy metal at Atlas Brew Works‘ stage. I don’t actually know if they have a stage or not, but we’re just going to go with it.

STAY IN: Have you been watching Terrace House? You should be watching Terrace House. It’s on Netflix and it’s the best reality TV show in the world.

ACTIVE: Read about the Soka Tribe and then join the Soka Tribe.

CULTURE: If you haven’t seen the Cézanne portraits yet, you need to go. 1. They look amazing. 2. The informative blurbs are some of the funniest things you will ever read in a museum as prestigious as the National Gallery of Art.

FILM: Catch the “ramen western” Tampopo at the Freer Sackler. It’s a new 4K restoration! In a museum you probably haven’t been to in a while!

FOOD + DRINK: Go get some breakfast. Not brunch. Breakfast.

FREE: Shopkeepers is holding an opening party for their second annual SAMASAMA exhibition, which is held in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Read about the amazing artist Julia Chon before you go and check it out.

MUSIC: Matt and Kim play their first night of two sold-out shows at 9:30 Club

OUTSIDE: Here’s a free yoga class. There’s always a free yoga class.

STAGE: Wait and wait and wait and continue Waiting for Godot at the Shakespeare Theatre Company. (But read about it first)

STAY IN: Make yourself a cocktail.
