Super cool news out of The Phillips Collection today, which just launched its Community in Focus project to document this unprecedented year. Everyone (regardless of skill level) is being invited to submit a photo that captures a piece of 2020.

“Show us your inimitable spirit, suffering, joy, and resilience. Community in Focus aims to put together a collective portrait filled with bravery, humor, sadness, creativity, and kindness—human emotions that connect us all. We are all in this together.”

Select qualified submissions will be:

  • Shared through The Phillips Collection and partners’ Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, as well as The Phillips Collection’s blog and e-newsletter.
  • Shared on The Phillips Collection’s website at the end of the year.
  • Presented on-site at The Phillips Collection and at the Phillips’s satellite campus [email protected] as a projected exhibition January 9-February 7, 2021.

Criteria as follows:

  1. Photos must be submitted October 19-November 29, 2020
  2. Photographs must be from the year 2020
  3. One submission per person (if more than one entry is submitted, then that person’s submissions will not be considered)
  4. Submissions must be labeled MM.DD.lastname (ie a photograph taken on April 9 would be labeled 04.09.Thomas)
  5. Submissions must be at least 1080 pixels on the short side
