We’re incredibly excited to announce our partnership on a series of deeply cool (and weird in all the right ways) events with our friends at Halcyon! The newly launched Halcyon Stage is alive, and the full inaugural season can be found at here.

Over the course of the spring season Halcyon Stage @ Dock 5 will be presenting iconic classical performances with innovative, unexpected twists. It’s going to be an insane amount of fun and we want all of you there with us.

March 18: Stravinsky Rave Rite of Spring Dance Party @ Dock 5

Join us for an evening of riot music. The Experiential Orchestra and conductor James Blachly will preform all of the music from Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring. The audience is free to move about and dance, providing their own riotous choreography to the music. I mean, who doesn’t want to get down to a song called “Glorification of the Chosen One”. A DJ set mixing electronic and classical music will follow.

Be the art, dress the part (Halcyon Stage’s Dress Recommendation): wild, jagged, and colorful.

May 13: BalletX performing to music of Amy Winehouse & Beirut @ Dock 5

Halcyon is bringing the incredibly contemporary BalletX company to perform to the music of Amy Winehouse and your favorite mid-2000’s indie band, Beirut. The company has received a flurry of accolades, and you can trust this is going to be strange in the best sense of the word. This is nothing like being forced to watch The Nutcracker every year.

Be the art, dress the part (Halcyon Stage’s Dress Recommendation): Cat eyes galore, gingham, and hairspray.

June 17: Wolf Trap Opera in Philip Glass’ The Fall of the House of Usher @ Dock 5

Wolf Trap Opera and and D.C.’s very own CityDance have come together to craft an entirely new approach to Poe’s classic gothic tale. Using music composed by Philip Glass, Septime Webre has managed to make the already very dark and very weird story even darker and weirder.

Hit up Halcyon Stage up on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to be the very first to know about their amazing event series (and so you can share all your sweet grams with them).

Halcyon is also doing a ton of very cool events at their space in Georgetown, so don’t forget to check these out.
