Once again our favorite Rock and Roll Hotel bouncer and dancing machine Andy updates us on the metal scene. This week brings us pecious moments with Andy, his son, and Trent Reznor along with helpful water bottle health tips. Hm… I wonder if Andy is going soft on us… but probably not. -cale

Rooooooaaaarrrrrrr! What’s up people?! How the hell’s it goin out in BYT land? As everyone was dancing to Arcade Fire, Kasabian, and the Scissor Sistas show. I was punishing my eardrums till they bled! I did make it out to the Killswitch show even though I’m not 100% into Metal-core, but having a metal column requires me to report about everything. They actually did put on a good show though, but I would say that Dragonforce still took the night. One thing I am noticing as I go to each Dragonforce show, the older maiden/priest fans are showing up, maybe Dragonforce isn’t a flash in the pan “here’s your 15 minutes”. Of course the older the crowd the more lively the talk is in line… for instance, a dude behind me was wearing a Slayer tour shirt from 87, and so I heard about how stoned he was, how many times he threw up in the parking lot, and how they “rocked the fucking house, man!” I love being in line for shows, you get the 14-15 year olds who could be attending their first show, talking and hanging out with old veterans of metal with brain cells lost and arthiritic necks. One gripe I have with standing up close to the stage, is the passing of the water bottle, I watched a water bottle be passed between 20 sweaty people and each one took a chug and passed it down, ok I was wondering if it was stoli or grey goose, but nah, it was water as well as 12 trillion bacteria and who knows what else? Come on people, leave the water bottle to yourself.

I listened to 9 of last weeks releases and I must say that the Nine Inch Nails lullabies did put my 9 month old son to sleep. It almost put myself to sleep as I was rubbing his back (I expect to hear awwwww’s from my readers if you see me out and about this weekend.) Speaking of new releases…

69 eyes – Angels
Teples of Brutality – Lethal Agenda
Bloodjin – This Machine Runs on Empty
Dying Fetus – War of Attrition (I actually heard it 3 weeks ago, kicks ass)
Chimaira – Ressurection (if it aint’ broke why fix it?)
Carnal Grief – Nine Shades of Pain (I heard 3 tracks and I like)
