Some friends have asked if I’m sick of pumpkin related products. We began this project in the middle of September. Every Monday through Friday we’ve tasted one pumpkin product. I can’t speak for anyone else in the office but I am not sick of pumpkin related products in any way. Why? Because sometimes the pumpkins don’t taste like pumpkins.

Halloween is great for many reasons. The best is the trick-or-treaters. Kids know candy. Last night my friends and I went through over 400 pieces of candy. 50 of those pieces were from Whole Foods. Guess what went last? The healthy stuff from Whole Foods. Kids gravitated towards Kit-Kats and Sour Patch Kids and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Why would a kid want chocolate made from natural ingredients when they could enjoy a gummy bear concocted in a lab to target the taste buds that’ll make them happiest? Kids are smart. Adults aren’t as smart. Which leads us to Trader Joe’s Chocolate Mousse Pumpkins.

Did I think these were pumpkin flavored when I purchased them at Trader Joe’s? Of course! They’re shaped like pumpkins! Why wouldn’t a pumpkin shaped thing be pumpkin flavored?

What I’m trying to say is I’m not as smart as the trick-or-treaters in Washington, D.C. I used my eyes but chose not to read.

They taste great! What fantastic little treats! They’re even better from the refrigerator. The price tag is a little hefty for a Trader Joe’s product, $4 for 6 treats, but they’re worth the cost. They’re sweet but not too sweet, rich but not overpowering, good out of the package. The one thing they’re not is pumpkin flavored.
