Welcome to A Pumpkin A Day, our new series highlighting the finest in fake pumpkin flavors! Beginning mid-September and running through whenever grocery stores and cafes stop selling pumpkin flavored seasonal treats, we’ll highlight one pointlessly pumpkin product per day.
The Cubs won the World Series last night, so I didn’t stop drinking until after 2 a.m. It makes sense, then, that my pumpkin product for today is more alcohol in the form of pumpkin spice whiskey. I’m not a whiskey girl, unless it’s fireball or if it’s in mixed drinks with a lot of sugar. Those are the two forms of whiskey I like, but I’m willing to give this a go, in the name of science. On Corsair’s website it says this is an experimental whiskey, which adds to the scientific nature of this taste test.
The bottle is cute and the cork makes a satisfying popping noise. I like the label, it’s very Reservoir Dogs and what’s more festive than armed robbery gone wrong and some light mutilation?
We don’t know if there’s actually any pumpkin in here because alcohol isn’t labelled like food which means they don’t have to list ingredients. Why exactly this is pumpkin spice is a mystery, and to be honest, I don’t think it really matters because I mostly just taste whiskey.
It’s definitely a smooth whiskey, and it goes down pretty well. There’s a definite sweetness as soon as it hits your mouth which I like, and there’s a hint of spice which is lovely. Then the burning starts. The burning only lasts a couple seconds, so it’s definitely bearable.
This is totally a fall product. It would go great in hot toddies or hot mulled cider. Or hot mulled wine if wine’s alcohol content doesn’t cut it for you. That’s another thing about this whiskey. It’s 92 proof, meaning 46 % alcohol, meaning I’m tipsy after two shots.
All in all, I would 100% drink this again, probably in a hot drink. Maybe I just like this because it’s a better whiskey than I usually drink, I don’t know. I don’t feel like it needs the pumpkin spice label, but it gives you another excuse to drink this because it’s ~festive~.

Feel of fall – 6. Whiskey is a very fall alcohol and the hints of spicy and sweet add to the fall vibes.
