Welcome to A Pumpkin A Day, our new series highlighting the finest in fake pumpkin flavors! Beginning mid-September and running through whenever grocery stores and cafes stop selling pumpkin flavored seasonal treats, we’ll highlight one pointlessly pumpkin product per day.

Today we’re trying 365 Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake sandwich cremes. These cookies are trying to be a lot of things at once- pie, cheesecake and cookies. I wonder if they’ll crack under the pressure and just be a sugary nightmare. Only time will tell.
They’re super fragrant cookies, they have a distinct cream cheese frosting smell, which is nice. As soon as I opened the box the smell wafted out, but it’s a comforting, fall smell so I’m not mad or sad.

Even though they smell very cream cheese frosting-y they taste pretty mild and neutral, which is for the best since room temperature cream cheese sounds like a nightmare, but I have a thing about food temperature so that could just be me.

The cookies are kind of dense, but in a good, comforting way. I think they’re very wheaty. Neither the cookie nor the icing is particularly pumpkiny or spiced but somehow they come together to create a subtle pumpkin spice flavoring. These cookies are kind of understated which I appreciate.

If you take the cookie apart and try to eat the two cookies and the filling separately, the filling might crumble off into your lap which is annoying but it’s not goopy so it’s not really a problem.

There’s a wavy imprint on the cookies, but it’s not that deeply indented, nor is it very detailed so it kind of looks accidental. Also some of the cookies have uneven edges. Maybe they’re trying to look homey or artisanal. It’s kind of working. They actually look a bit like sand on a beach which is super peaceful, so that’s nice. 49979951732__7f78b59d-646c-4b0e-b0ea-057e9e0ed2f4-jpg
I think the smell is the best part of these cookies, but eating them is super pleasant as well. I think that of the pumpkin sandwich cookies I have eaten, these might be my favorite. I definitely like them more than the Oreos and the ones from Trader Joe’s weren’t pumpkin flavored.
