Back in 2010, just days before opening the doors of then-new nightclub on U Street, Will Eastman told BYT that he was “feeling giddy and after testing out the sound system, literally in tears of joy.” Those tears are decidedly different today after the venue announced in a heartfelt post that the venue would be closing.

It’s had an incredible run, and we’ve had the pleasure of experiencing it all in real time from the night it all started. We’re not ready to say goodbye, but while we process the deeply sad news today, we want to celebrate some of the amazing moments we were able to capture throughout the years. This smattering certainly doesn’t encapsulate all of our fond memories (some of those will just have to stay burning in our hearts forever), but it’s certainly a small testament to the magic and the might of U Street Music Hall:
