One of my favorite-in-an-ironic-way places to witness the madness that occurs on Black Friday is the parking lot of the giant mall near my house. But if you would rather not want to participate in this and instead in another form of consumerism, we’ve got another brunch guide for you! And if you’re planning to go shopping after brunch make it worth it.
Bottomless mimosas to suppress or bring out the family drama that might have ensued the day before. Graffiato’s regular and already trusted brunch menu is serving up Quail Eggs; Steak & Eggs; Jersey Shore Pizza with fried calamari, tomato, provolone cherry and pepper aioli; tiramisu french toast, and MUCH MORE.
If you spent all of Thursday inside moving from the table then to the kitchen then to the couch and then to your bed and need a change of scenery, Kapnos Taverna’s delightful decor might be just what you need. Plus good food. For $25 you can enjoy their bottomless Mediterranean menu – options include a Greek yogurt parfait bar, sausage and spit-roasted meats, Greek salad, pastries, and $5 mimosas.
Because the spirit of Black Friday probably lies in all of us (dormant or not) going to a tapas place will fulfill your need for getting a lot of dishes versus just one. Like why get one 50% off sweater when you can get FIVE? Jaleo’s brunch menu has dishes like Huevos Estrellados with fried potatoes; Huevos Pochado con Idiazábal with jamón and espinacas; and Torrijas con plátano caramelizado and espuma de ron.
For those of us (me) who make it a habit of falling asleep right after dessert on Thanksgiving and then wake up way too early on Friday morning, Founding Farmers is serving brunch from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. They’ll have their regular brunch dishes making the rounds. Think Breakfast Chicken and Waffles, Peanut Butter Banana Toast, and Red Velvet Pancakes.
If you are in fact planning to go Black Friday shopping and would like the person and/or family member you’re with to buy you somethin’ nice and want to keep them in a good mood with a good meal then Cafe Deluxe is a solid bet. Their Tomato, Feta, and Spinach omelet is always good and so is their Salmon Florentine Benedict.
