Hal Sparks Live @ Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse
$25 / $25
Whether you know him best as the former host of E! Television's Talk Soup, the boyish Michael on Showtime's Queer as Folk, or as the bubble-wrap wearing cult leader desperately seeking the "continuum transfunctioner" in Dude, Where's My Car, comic actor Hal Sparks has been cracking up film and television viewers since his feature debut in the 1989 cult classic Chopper Chicks in Zombietown. Actor/comedian/musician Hal Sparks began his professional career as a teenager in Chicago. As a member of the famed Second City Troupe, his quick wit and affable personality quickly gained him recognition and acclaim. In 1987 he was named the “Funniest Teenager In Chicago” by the Chicago Sun Times. After a successful run with Second City, Sparks moved to Los Angeles and immediately began performing at numerous comedy clubs, including The Improv, The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory and The Ice House, as well as at Comic Relief’s American Comedy Festival. Hal is currently lending his voice to the lead character of “Tak” in the Nickelodeon animated series “Tak and the Power of Juju” which airs Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. “Tak and the Power of Juju” follows the teenage jungle boy, Tak, and his fellow Pupununu villagers as they deal with their fate as the unluckiest tribe in the world. He also stars in the magic competition series “Celebracadabra” airing now on VH1. From 1999 – 2000, Sparks was the host of the Emmy-award winning “Talk Soup” on E! Entertainment Television, winning rave reviews from fans and critics alike. For five seasons, he co-starred as Michael Novotny on the hit Showtime series “Queer As Folk,” based on the controversial and critically acclaimed British series. In 2006, Sparks appeared on the FOX musical competition series “Celebrity Duets” and hosted the WB reality series “Survival Of the Richest.” He most recently shared judging duties with Rosanne Barr on the Nick at Nite comedy competition series “America’s Funniest Mom” which aired in April 2007. Hal is also one of the stars of the VH1 hit pop culture series “I Love The 90’s,” “I Love The 80’s,” “The 80’s Strike Back” and “I Love The 70’s.” His television credits include guest-starring roles on “CSI,” “Frasier,” and “One on One.” He also co-starred in the Showtime Original feature “Bleacher Bums,” adapted from the critically acclaimed play of the same name. Hal starred opposite Peter Riegert, Wayne Knight and Brad Garrett in this classic baseball comedy. In 2004 Sparks appeared in the box office hit “Spiderman 2.” He also co-starred in the 20th Century Fox comedy, “Dude, Where’s My Car?,” “Dickie Roberts, Former Child Star” and “Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town” with Billy Bob Thorton. Sparks also provided the voices for two animal characters, a bee and a fish, in the 20th Century Fox film “Dr. Dolittle 2.” His numerous television appearances include “The Tonight Show,” “Larry King Live,” “Charlie Rose,” “Good Morning America,” “The View,” “Politically Incorrect,” MTV and “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” He also starred in his own sketch comedy pilot entitled “Here Comes The Neighborhood” and produced comedy segments for Disney Channel. On the stage, Sparks has performed in such productions as “The Glass Menagerie” and “Brighton Beach Memoirs.” In addition to a busy acting and stand-up career, Hal is an accomplished singer/songwriter/musician. He and his band, Zero 1, have just released their debut album and will soon be touring the country. A native of Peak’s Mill, Kentucky, Sparks spent several years in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles. He is also an expert in the martial arts with 20 years experience in Shaolin, Kung Fu, Wushu and Karate. More information on Hal can be found at his website www.halsparks.com.

Chris Kattan from SNL LIVE and the House Band Sketch Group @ Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse
$22 / $22
Come enjoy a night of sketch comedy & standup & story telling with Chris Kattan & Sketch Comedy Group "House Band" Chris Kattan was a member of several improv/sketch comedy troupes one of them being The Groundlings in Los Angeles. His father was an original member of the troupe. Kattan also did some minor roles on TV, including the first episode of the second season of NewsRadio, "No, This Is Not Based Entirely on Julie's Life," as a photo shop employee. He moved to New York City to work on Saturday Night Live from 1995 to 2003. His recurring characters included Mr. Peepers, Mango, Azrael Abyss, Kyle DeMarco from The DeMarco Brothers, Gay Hitler, Suel Forrester (known for the term "dagitybo") and, most notably, one half of the Butabi Brothers with fellow SNL (and Groundlings) cast member Will Ferrell, known for their trademark head-bobbing. Kattan and Ferrell continued the characters in 1998's A Night at the Roxbury. Kattan has made one appearance on Broadway, playing Xanthias in a production of Aristophanes' The Frogs until his replacement during previews by Roger Bart.[4] Kattan was set to host the game show Gameshow In My Head and even filmed the pilot episode in Hollywood.[5] However, he was replaced with Joe Rogan for the series. Kattan appeared in a Diet Pepsi MAX commercial during Super Bowl XLII that featured "What Is Love" and had many actors in the commercial performing the Butabi head bob. In August 2009 Kattan starred in the IFC miniseries Bollywood Hero, where he portrays himself and the difficulties he faces after a career as a comic actor, trying to attain leading man status. Starting in fall of 2009, Kattan appeared in a supporting role in The Middle. Kattan plays Bob, a colleague of Frankie Heck's at Mr. Ehlert's car dealership. Kattan appeared in the May 17[when?] episode of How I Met Your Mother as a star in a fictional movie within the show. He played himself acting as Jed Mosely, a character based on the main character Ted with an arrogant personality. In December 2011, Kattan made a guest appearance on Saturday Night Live's Christmas show, hosted by Jimmy Fallon. - See more at: http://arlingtondrafthouse.com/drafthouse/event.aspx?eid=4299#sthash.jWkXagLm.dpuf
