“Win Before You Can Buy” Giveaway: Hot Chip + Sleigh Bells + James Murphy @ Merriweather
May 17, 2012 | 11:00AM

If you’re like me, you often fantasize about magical music festivals that’ll never exist (or that you can’t afford to go to… coughGlastonburycough).  But oh how it would make your heart melt to see this band and that band and that old favorite from your formative years all share a stage.  Well, that feeling of BLISS is exactly what came over me when I heard that HOT CHIP, SLEIGH BELLS AND JAMES MURPHY (yes, that James Murphy of DFA/LCD Soundsystem/Cale’s wet dreams) were teaming up for a tour and coming to Merriweather Post Pavilion on Juny 22nd!!  I mean, look at how picture perfect this is:

Pretty fucking excellent, right? Well, tickets may be going on sale tomorrow @ 10AM, but we’ve got one pair for one very lucky person to snag before then. All you have to do is tell us in the comments what your ideal “trifecta of awesomeness” tour would be. Here, I’ll even go first: Paul Banks (of Interpol, playing solo mind you) + The XX + The Smiths for me and 1,000 of my closest friends at the 930 Club, duh.

Winner will be selected by 9AM tomorrow! Use a real email address when you comment!

You’d have to break out a ouija board for this line up….and of course it would be at the 9:30 club :)
    1. The Cramps – Headliner
    2. Liberace
    3. Dolly Parton
    4. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

  • Phil R says:

Wolf Parade + Spoon + Daft Punk. In that order. In my living room. We’re going to need to take out some walls and ceilings to fit the pyramid.

P.S. I will settle for Hot Chip + Sleigh Bells + Murphy at MPP!!!

  • paddywax says:

Ratatat + Explosions in the Sky + Radiohead

  • Wil3rd says:

Godspeed You Black Emperor! / They Might Be Giants / Ween. In that order at Strathmore. (can you imagine that sound!)

  • Bailey says:

    Too easy:
Justice + Friendly Fires + Radiohead

  • Roddy says:

The Shauna Trifecta Tour is hard to top, though my Interpol would bring back the original lineup, with The Great Carlos Dengler on bass.

Do all the members still have to be alive and nonfictional? If not, then I’ll take the Ghost of Michael Jackson, Thriller Era; the Beatles, circa Seargant Pepper; and Intergalactic-era Beasties with MCA reincarnated as a raspy-voiced, billygoat-bearded Tibetan monk with sick flow.

Otherwise, I’ll take LCD Soundsystem (b/c I never got to see them while they were kicking it), the original Interpol (whom I also never got to see in original form), and The Cure, whom I’ve also never seen but really, really must.

…at Merriweather Post, for me, you and everyone we know.

Soooo many acts. Let’s go with Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem, and hell, Janelle Monae since she’s a killer opening act. Seen J. Roddy open for both THS and DBT, but it’d be great to see all three on the same bill together. There are probably a ton of others I’m not thinking off.

  • Michelle says:
