Awesome concert announcement and giveaway! :) Best date night ever: hands down first time my boyfriend cooked for me…(and he never cooks)…So it was from the heart and so special. It was to celebrate my birthday and he had planned out an amazingly fantastic and difficult meal, the works! Marinated steak, gravy, mushrooms (he doesn’t like them, I love em), asparagus with a special cheesy sauce, roasted red skin potatoes and he made a chocolate fondue with cut up fruit for dessert. He picked up my favorite wine and after we ate, we drank a few glasses, talked and laughed the whole night playing cards and dominoes. Definitely goes to show you don’t have to go out or spend a ton of money to have a good time. Just do something out of your comfort zone to show how much you care. Did I mention he wore an apron? Too freaking cute.

When you’ve been married for 21 years, dating takes it’s turns goes through many levels. When we first met in college, the perfect date was just spending time with one another and taking a walk~~remember college students don’t always have much money.
Then as we grew past college age, it was fine dining, trips to local excursions and talks of the future. Those times, talks of the future, the what if’s…brought us close, made our choices much more real. One of the best dates, besides our wedding day or birth of children had to be the day he asked me to be his wife. I had been working as a promotional director for daytime soaps when he picked me up after a show I was hosting…we drove into Manhattan and had dinner at South Street Seaport and watched the lights come up on the Bklyn Bridge. While toasting with champagne to our time together, he said “don’t choke on the ice”. Ice? He meant the engagement ring that was sitting inside the champagne glass. After enthusiastic yes’ he took to back to the car where 2 doz roses were waiting for me and a horsedrawn carriage ride around Manhattan.
Not sure that extravagance could be topped, but I cherish the times the we can eat a meal without the kids, or the days that he has a weekday off and we can even spend quality time together. Age and phase change, but I can honestly say I love him more than those younger more romantic days.

Would love to take my wife to see Gotye at Merriweather. He’s sounds like the modern day Sting.

My best date night was with the man who is now my husband. I was just about to graduate from law school and we were going to move to Miami after graduation. As I rode on a crowded 36 bus from my job at a bookstore, my wallet was stolen including my paycheck and Florida ID. The thief exited the back door and the driver wouldn’t stop between designated stops so it was gone. So I was broke and ID-less.

We wanted to celebrate our last weekend in DC with a Saturday night out dancing, but the no-ID and brokeness put the kibosh on that. We decided instead to take some home hooch and head off on an adventure. We dawdled down from Glover Park by side streets. We played in the woods of Glover Archibold park. Window shopped and bought a fountain coke from Burger King. We spiked our coke and headed to the river. We hung out in several green spots watching the night roll in and the people coming out. We got a little buzzed but never drunk, but kept talking and talking about our visions for the future, things of no real importance and enjoying the city in which we fell in love. We didn’t come back home until early morning and it was the best date of my life.

I’m 22 years old and have never been on a date, never had a boyfriend, and rarely ever shown any romantic interests in any boy. That’s because I’m a very focused individual–focused in high school so I could get into college, focused on college so I can set my sights on a successful career path. But, my college career is coming to a close, I know where I want to go in life, so that means it’s time to set my sights elsewhere. I want to win Gotye tickets so I can have the most epic first date ever. With a love of music, and music being of the utmost importance in my life, there would be no better first date than getting to bond over music–and getting to bond over Gotye’s music, at that.

I started the date by first bringing my ex girlfriend a dozen red roses (which of course she loved). I had prepared a nice picnic basket full of her favorite foods and proceed to a privite area of the beach that was close by. We had a nice meal by the water all alone (thankfully the weather was great). She was totally happy and was surprised to see all the foods she loved. After that I had booked a great hotel on the beach which was totally awesome. This was a great day all around and I can’t lie was surprised I could pull it off.

Kayleigh should win solely on the fact that her post didn’t make any sense and it sounds like the saddest life anyone could ever lead. She’s never had a boyfriend because she’s so focused on inane bullshit like a “career path” but then music (which is, when it’s good, pure emotion) is the most important thing in her life. Sense this one doesn’t make. Give her the tickets so maybe she’ll experience an epiphany and end up a bohemian dishwasher but totally in love and ignoring bullshit like “college” and “career path”. Yawn.

I know my post is great, and you miss me Shauna, but I wouldn’t want to win even if I were back in DC since this dude’s music sucks moose balls.

My boyfriend and I were trying to go to Georgetown for a date night. We got off at Farragut North with the intention of catching the Circulator. But we took the wrong exit out of the station and got all turned around and couldn’t figure out where the bus stop was. We decided we’d just eat somewhere in the Farragut North area, and as we were wondering around to find a restaurant, a homeless man approached us selling pink roses. The price, he said, was as much as my boyfriend believed I was worth. And so my boyfriend handed over a $5 bill for the single pink rose (because he didn’t have one million dollars available). Eventually we settled with Fuddruckers for dinner. 5 years later, I still have the dried up rose, and that is one of my favorite date night memories :)

I can’t say that I’ve ever had a truly spectacular date (pleasant but not-precisely-novel-ones, sure), but based on what is happening on Twitter tonight, it appears the hot thing to do in DC is to find a TV playing the Scripps Howard Spelling Bee and then cheer and jeer over the words.

OH SNAP. GOTTA SEE THEM NAOW!

Going to the Black Keys concert at Merriweather…it was our first date and we were both getting awkwardly smashed into each other and trying not to spill our massive ass 24oz Corona lights on one another…it was wonderful : )

best date: when i was studying music in Italy, i wound up on an impromptu date involving amazing neopolitan pizza and a bottle of whiskey on top of a water tower. in case you were wondering, we did drive there on a vespa with his cello strapped to the back. it was pretty magical.

OH MAN! Sooo happy hes coming back! I was mad that I missed his 9:30 club show! OK! Best Date Night for me had to have been march of 2010! My boyfriend at the time we were just starting to go out for dinners, movies ect. and we had shared common interests in books, politics, and most importantly MUSIC! We both were/still are huge fans of MUSE and we had tickets for the show, floor seats! the only way to see MUSE live! it was absolutely amazing we danced and sang like there was no tomorrow, right up in the front row. During the last song my boyfriend Patrick, told me to follow him, that he had a surprise for me. We walked around the arena until we got to a check point where it was guarded by security. I thought we were going to be stopped but apparently Patrick had his name on the right list and we were able to go through. We walked around a couple of corners and down a few flights of stairs and we were right along side of their tour bus! I was geeking out like a fan boy at Comic-Con. Patrick was cousins with MUSE’s touring manager and he pulled some strings so we could come down and hang out by the buses! I leaned over to him and gave him a huge kiss and whispered to him “Best Surprise EVER!” at that moment MUSE came through the stage doors and came right over to us! Matt, Chris and Dom were Sooooo nice! and quite funny! They signed all of our stuff posed for a couple of pictures and then went on their way! needless to say it was one of those nights that I will never forget for as long as I live! were still together 2 years strong and I wanna win these tickets so I can take him on an unforgettable date night!

Summer 2011. Summer kickball end-of-season party in AdamsMo. Me and this other girl have been checking each other out for a while get paired up in a massive flip-cup tournament. After a long night of dominating the competition, we share the sweet title of flip-cup champions and, shortly thereafter, our first kiss. That girl, by the way, just happened to become my fiancee.

had a date right before a big snow storm that was more serious than we expected so we built an igloo in the park across the street and took blankets and pillows and wine and a flash light and really got to know each other. it was the most romantic thing ive ever experienced. still with him to this day

I have been trying to think about it because there have been so many great dates but last week at Zac Brown Band it dawned on me. One of the best dates was when we went to see Mumford & Sons at Merriweather (and I am not just saying that) it rained so hard there was hail and lightning. We huddled under an overhang packed with strangers…it was scary, freezing and we were soaking wet. When the rain stopped I rung out my clothes and the band came on…what an experience we will never forget! Last years I titled my blog post “Rain Date”… http://letthetidepullyourdreamsashore.blogspot.com/2011/06/rain-date.html
