A Midsummer’s Night Dream because everyone takes acid and has an orgy. If you don’t believe me, read it again.

  • MArTy says:

It’s probably super cliche to say Romeo and Juliet, but how could it not be your favorite after Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes killed that movie? How insane would it have been if Natalie Portman kept the part of Juliet? And John Leguizamo, what happened to that guy? Unfortunately or fortunately, I was born in ’88 and puts me at the mercy all things remixed. And…. this remix does it for me. Romeo and Juliet.

Macbeth, because it’s so badass you can’t say the name of the play around actors without them turning around three times and spitting.

  • Lizard10 says:

Much Ado About Nothing because when I saw it as a 12 year old at a Shakespeare in the Park theatre in the Rocky Mountains, I realized it wasn’t so lame to love literature afterall.

  • sleighly says:

a comedy of errors — let’s be real, it’s hysterical and involves twins.

  • tjabs says:

Hamlet; it is the epic-est play of a tragic hero (at least the prince from Norway thought he was in the end) — elements of tragic character and tragic action. And, because one of its most famous lines spurred the title for our own generation’s epic (see Infinite Jest).

  • Brenna says:

Midsummer Night’s Dream – only Shakespeare could write something with such a crazy plot. Fairies? Seriously?

  • Rosalindandorlando4eva says:

As You Like It-When I finally read Romeo and Juliet in high school I thought, “Really? This is It?” I couldn’t understand how two people could love and die for each other in a matter of days. I really enjoyed Rosalind and Orlando’s love story more. I love the interaction between Orlando and the disguised Rosalind Plus there was a happy ending.

Two Gentleman of Verona. I haven’t read anything else.

  • That's all says:

Two Gentleman of Verona-it’s all I’ve ever read.

  • Coffee phIlosopher says:

“Hamlet,” because I may be pushing forty but I am still too damn young to relate to “King Lear.”

  • Coffee phIlosopher says:

Though Twelfth Night is by far the most fun…

  • L says:

Midsummer Night’s Dream because I do believe in Fairies, I do, I do!

  • Jav says:

Hamlet because it offers lines like this: “Doubt that the sun doth move, doubt truth to be a liar, but never doubt I love”. (Act II, Sc. II).

    Just saying…

  • c_line says:

“The Taming of the Shrew” even though I really didn’t want Katherina to actually be tamed. She was a sassy broad.

  • Moonshine says:

My favorite play by Shakespeare is A Midsummer Night’s Dream, because it’s like Thumbelina abridged for adults.

  • Addie R says:

Much ado about nothing…Is my fave… It highlights just how much fuss is made about sex (noting) and how as humans we tend to focus on trickery and deceit to get what we want…
