I deserve to go because I’m broke and couldn’t go to the Verizon Center show!

  • Lindsay says:

I gave away my last pair and didn’t try to rip people off like the hundreds of scammers on craigslist. dicks.

  • Bryan says:

I deserve to go because I had to sell my floor tickets for the first show so I could go visit my grandparents down in Florida.

  • Music Roo says:

I waited outside the verizon center to try and buy tickets BUT after a near arrest / run in with the police, I decided I would patiently wait for their return to the district. please save me any future trouble by giving me the free tickets!!

  • Amanda says:

I deserve to go because I have been working 6 days a week non stop since mid december, with no sick or vacation days. And I just spent a small fortune on fixing my hoopty, therefore currently broke. Oh and because I’m awesome.

  • St.Bowie says:

    Dear BYT,

I believe I am deserving of the tickets as I was at the Verizon show this past weekend however, did not get to see most or really any of the show. Aside from waiting in the horrific lines everywhere, we were constantly trying to find dark areas to drink our flasks of Jameson so as not to waste more of our money on overpriced vodka drinks. Lastly, I missed the entire Black Keys set while searching for my date who trying to score cocaine all night. So to summarize my spectacular fail of an evening, I paid for four tickets, did not get to see the show, my date both drank my Jameson and was on a drug spree. I would very much appreciate the second chance to see both bands as I had always wanted to see both live and to have the chance to see both the same night would be amazing.

    Thank you for your time.

  • Hope says:

I deserve to go because my boyfriend and I were bummed to be missing the Verizon Center showing because he was out of town, and deserve a night of rockin’ out with 2 awesome bands! We don’t have a lot of free money for fun things, so this would be a chance to enjoy ourselves with no guilt.

  • sammy says:

I deserve the tickets cause I haven’t had sex in 7 months…and this will get me laid! This girl I started dating is a HUGE fan and this will seal the deal for me ;) Help a man in a time of need.

  • Patty-D says:

Concerts are what I live for. This year I’m fortunate enough to be seeing some of my favorite bands that I’ve ever listened to and in doing so, I’ve run out of money for the summer already. I would give anything to go to this concert. I’d sell my soul, but I’m a ginger; I’d sell my guitar but I’d die; and I’d sell my twin sister… but instead you could give me two free tickets so I can take her… the concert is on our birthday. PLEASE!?!?!
    Love,
    Desperato

  • GypsyEYES says:

I deserve to go because a. im not that guy who posted a million times b. Im a poor student who has only dreamt to see arcade fire in concert and c. I will be forced to lurk outside the grounds of Merriweather if I don’t get these tickets :/

  • Mike says:

I deserve this concert for a lot of reasons. Merriweather’s lawn is a second home to me, definitely my favorite place to hang out and enjoy a great concert. I didn’t get to go to the Verizon Center show because it sold out too quickly, but the Black Keys are my favorite band around today. There is no greater joy a human being can experience than to hear Dan and Patrick rock their way through their sets. Straight blues songs like Heavy Soul and Thickfreakness are just the best because the Keys know how to rock, plain and simple. The stuff from Brothers and El Camino is great too, and I would kill to see them perform some Little Black Submarine or Gold on the Ceiling. I need these tickets because this is my favorite band at my favorite venue (I’m actually naming my son Merriweather), and when this giveaway’s over, I want to be able to say I Got Mine. I already spend an hour a day youtubing the Black Keys live stuff, so why not let me see them in person?

  • James says:

I was at Merriweather for VirginFest and should have seen The Black Keys. But as luck would have it, I was with a group who wanted to be right against the stage for deadmau5 so we waited there for 5 hours. It was worth it in one sense because I got to be front row for Empire of the Sun AND deadmau5. But alas, I missed seeing The Black Keys who was just as high up on my list of must-see’s at the festival. I’d love to go and if you guys could help make it happen for free then it would be sweet, sweet redemption for such an unsuccessful stage hopping experience last year (because I was stuck at one stage for most of it).

On a sidenote (that may help me here), I have already purchased tickets to Sweetlife (a major sponsor right now on BYT). Basically, I’m saying that had I not already known about it, I would have been pushed to do it based off of your advertisements. …I’m brown-nosing right now. I hope it’s working.

  • Monica says:

Hey, I probably don’t deserve these tickets. I’ve got a good life, a happy relationship, and a knack for baking. What more does a girl need? Certainly not tickets to an awesome outdoor concert. But still, I want them. So please, make my day — I want tickets to The Black Keys!

  • Post Grad says:

    Dear BYT,

I need these tickets for the sanity of my mind. Due to money issues (ahem…I’m a professional job dabbler right now), I was unable to purchase a ticket for the first show. This second chance would be amazing if my bank account wasn’t still taunting me. My Black Keys love is always going strong and their albums are stuck on repeat in my head (and I don’t have Dan’s voice to be singing aloud without a crowd as often as I do). I’m going to say it…BYT, I’m howling for you to help a girl out.

  • DaGtheman says:

I cover some of their songs. It would be really cool to see them live. Maybe I can finally match my guitar tone with Dan.

  • Black is Back says:

To Quote Clint “deserves got nothing to do with it” :) I’ll make that show stand on its head!! but why me?…. because you guys want bad ass pics of some crazed smoe doing crazy shit for the camera.. so you guys can sell more tickets to other shows.!

  • gtorres says:

I deserve the tickets because the first time around I woke up SUPER early, bought them in the first 15 mins during the presale, and I still got stuck with seats IN THE LAST ROW. You could barely understand what they were playing, and the fact that both the Arctic Monkeys are two of my favorite bands of all time (been following them before they could even fill in the 930 club) and I could barely see anything just sucks. Help a girl out, BYT – would love ya forevaaaah!

  • Helena says:

Good day! I deserve tickets because I didn’t know the Black Keys until we did two of their songs in Jazzercise class–and by then, it was too late to get tickets. Nothing like shaking one’s spandexed arse to Lonely Boy…

  • Alli W. says:

I have been a fan of The Black Keys for years now and have ever been able to see them play live. May 18th it also my younger sister’s 18th birthday and I think this would be the best present ever!

  • Deborah says:

I will sing my heart out and enjoy the atmosphere @ 9:30 club. Thanks!

  • Allison says:

    1. The Black Keys are awesome because they capture almost every genre in each new single, let alone their unspoken tracks that aren’t out to the world yet. 2. The Arctic Monkeys have the greatest vibe in mostly all their songs. 3. I have yet to see both of these guys live. 4. It’s my birthday tomorrow; winning this ticket giveaway would make my year and be a dream come true! Nothing better than enjoying live tunes on a spring night at Merriweather. Besides my love for these bands, I deserve and would be so thankful to be a part of this amazing show. <3

  • weathmerman2111 says:

I deserve to see them again because I saw their first show at Merriweather at Freefest last year and I would love to relive those memories. I’m also unemployed right now and could really use the boost that winning something brings.

  • alexis says:

I couldn’t go to the Verizon Center show and seeing them at Merriweather would be so much cooler anyhow! I would love to see them live.

  • annguin says:

I was supposed to go to the Verizon show but was in an accident , had surgery, and couldn’t walk. Merriweather is right down the street, so I can hobble there at this point in my recovery. For real, I can show you the cool scars!

  • mary kate says:

It’s my birthday! I don’t deserve anything but it would be niiiiice

  • The Sydster says:

I deserve tickets for this concert because I originally wrote out a really long, detailed, heart-felt response and then my Wifi went out when I submitted it…I’ll sum it all up for you: I love music and I love the Black Keys. “El Camino” is one of the best albums released by a band in a long time this year, and I didn’t get to attend last week’s concert with Arctic Monkeys (another one of my favorite bands) because the tickets were too expensive for me. Music means everything to me- I am head over heels in love with it, practically worship it, can’t go a day without listening to it. I am a journalism major in college and write for my school’s paper, covering live shows and reviewing them constantly. If you gave me this opportunity, I would be forever grateful and probably have one of the best concert experiences ever. Also, I’ve never had the chance to go to Merriweather Post Pavilion, but I’ve heard great things about the holy venue and would love to finally go to a show there. Live music is magical- please let me experience the magic that is the Black Keys, I’ve been itching to see them for years! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CHOOSE ME :)

  • Spanky says:

I deserve to go because I love their music,,couldn’t afford the Verizon show, haven’t seen a concert since Rod Stewart played Nissan Pavallion, had a lousy time of it lately ,and would be in heaven if I got to go. and I have bought 3 of their CD’s in the past 2 months :) Pretty please? :)

  • Caitlin Wendy says:

I deserve to go because it will be my 25th birthday, and what better way to celebrate being a quarter of a century old? Also, The Black Keys have been one of my favorite bands since The Big Come Up came out (check my vinyl, yo). I was always out of town when they played shows in Columbus, and now I’ve moved out of Ohio and they’re deservedly super popular and tickets are too expensive even for this hardworking gal :/

  • Salty says:

I deserve them because I’m not as annoying as that Spanky guy that posted 25 times.

  • LilianJane says:

I deserve to go because I could visit my sister in DC and treat her to an amazing show at the same time! Please!

  • chris says:

I would be a worthy recipient of the tickets because I like what they play, well-played modern music evolved from traditional forms without being mere revivalists. Also, I gather that they were either fans of or played with (or both) a couple of old north Mississippi bluesmen, Junior Kimbrough and R.L Burnside, who I saw a number of times in the ’90s. I like what they like, and they play what I like.

I was too busy vomiting while watch the GOP primaries. I felt really sick, so I missed when Verizon tickets went on sale. I blame Newt.

  • shawnda says:

I deserve to go because it would be the most awesome thing to happen after a week of craziness… Shattered my phone (on the Pandora Black Keys Station, no less), my toddler got the flu, found out my Aunt’s cancer is back, and they have no other treatment to offer this time..It would be amazing to enjoy a night out, after this long week. Please pick me, I’d be forever grateful, I would be absolutely THRILLED to see them live!!!!

  • sweetemotion says:

I deserve to win tickets to this show because I am a broke college student who needs a little adventure in my life! I’m a senior in college and graduation is fast approaching. Lately it seems my life consists of nothing but books, tests, and all-nighters. I’m broke and can’t afford tickets but would absolutely LOVE to see The Black Keys and The Arctic Monkeys live. It would be the perfect graduation gift!

  • kensingtonite says:

I deserve to go because I’m a huge fan, am really stressed out, and could seriously use some music therapy!

  • thomasina says:

I deserve to go again because my friends got me too drunk on Friday to remember half of what the Black Keys played. Yes, they poured that scotch down my throat.

  • TENcentpistol says:

No matter how hard I try. Baby, don’t you understand? I got a love that keeps me waiting. That makes this train roll. Its true. I want and you got it.

But, If I don’t win, it’s alright, ain’t no blood in my eye. I’ll be good. Like I should.

Now, I got to go because, something’s on my mind.

  • Moonshine says:

  • z00mxtrev says:

My fiance deserves to go because she’s been working 100+ hour weeks in her residency fixing bones (mostly for people who do idiotic things)!

  • DESPERATEMUSICLOVER says:

I deserve to go because I am currently working as a year long volunteer where paying for this concert would be equivalent to the crap stipend I make in a month! I would LOVE to see the Black Keys for the first time, and often have to miss the shows I am dying to see due to my ridiculous budget!

  • floyd says:

gimme dem tickets. i’m super pissed i missed the arctic monkeys at verizon center. c’mon. pleaseeee

  • Lija says:

    Imagine an experience like this…
It all starts as you see a craigslist ad for the previous concert. You go to the designated exchange spot and, as it turns out, the cloth DOES smell like chloroform. You wake up tied to a bed with a family of slaves looking at you to save them. Your new owner enters the room and explains that you can earn your freedom and the tickets in one of two ways 1) play ‘The Rhythm is Gonna Get You’ on the rusty trombone or 2) cage fight to the death against a 10-foot tall Khajiit named Pussyfart. You inform him that you’ve never played an instrument in your life, so cage match it is.
Long story short, you lose the cage match after a well placed crotch kick that leads to a Stone Cold Stunner.
Lying on the floor in a bloody mess, with Pussyfart hovering above, dripping with sweat and sex appeal, you slowly lose consciousness. Just before the lights go out, you see the ringleader, so admiring of your courage, she gives the thumbs up that your life be spared.
And spared it was, hah! But you were in a coma for three weeks. You were bought and sold 6 times by ruthless people seeking to use your skill, wit, and spontaneous drop-kicks to their advantage, but in the end it was a lonely old maid who purchased you from a drug kingpin recently toppled from his powdery throne. She was an old, disgusting, never married bag of bones, but decided that 30 was the right age to start a family. She loved you, cared for you, tended to your wounds, and nursed you back to health with toad-milk-sickles that soured and fermented with grief and pain into a surprisingly rejuvenating healing potion. With her bizarre care you finally awoke without a memory of who you were, but you knew that there was something you needed to do…
A quest of epic proportions. Though lost in dreamless sleep, you both knew what had to be done. With nothing but a sack of food, canteen of water, and a Fleshlight® you went off in search of the destiny, that you may fulfill it and then return to home with the epic story that went as told.
That was two years ago, my friends. And little by little, step by step, your journey has brought you here to Washington, DC. You know your destiny and it is to see the fucking Black Keys.
Also, I’m graduating that weekend… so… I’d love to top off the weekend with some funky, funky, Black Keys!

  • Big AL L says:

Because I’ve been “Sick for days, So many ways, I’m achin’ now, ‘M achin’ now, It’s times like these I need relief
Please show me how, Oh show me how, To get right, Yes outta sight!”

  • Ben & Joe says:

I deserve to go because my husband and I are Akron natives, we’re missing home and we–embarrassingly–have never seen the Black Keys live. Plus we could really use a date night and this would hit a few notes all at once. Forever grateful.

  • Jack says:

In all the years I’ve been goin to concerts I’ve never sold an extra for more than face value, even when the $80 lawn seats I bought for Mumford and Sons fell through I sold them for $35 each. Just hoppin for a little bit of ticket karma.

  • Kkline says:

Unemployed for 7 months, drowning in useless grad school debt, but still keeping positive. I have an awesome outlook on life, and I freaking love the Black Keys. Send some good karma my way!

  • Anne says:

Because having something like this to look forward to, will make the past few long, awful days and early mornings worth while for both my boyfriend and me

  • Eric says:

I want to go to their next show cause it will be nothing like their ex show.

  • joe says:

I would really like to take my wife to her first concerned and Black Keys are her favorite band. It would make a great bday gift a few weeks before the concert.

  • Reggie says:

    Hi I’m Gina,
I just turned 30 and have been in love with the Black Keys for about 4 years now, I have every one of their albums and listen to them almost everyday at work. I fell in love with my husband because our first conversation we had ever was about how much we love The Black Keys and which songs were our favorites. We talked about it all night and it started a wonderful relationship. My husband also requested “I’ll be your man” and sang it to me at the reception in front of everyone. It was pretty funny. I think it would be great to win these tickets fo me and my husband to see them at Merriweather.

  • SingleDaddy says:

    Hello,

My name is Anthony and I’m a single 28 yr old full time Dad of the most beautiful little girl in the whole world. If there are two things in this word I can’t get enough of it’s her and The Black Keys. I don’t get out much anymore, don’t really have time. My typical day consists of work, evening school 3 times a week, and getting home to take care of Carmen. I missed the first go around with the Keys due to an ear plug operation for her. Don’t get me wrong, she always does and will always come first but through my own realization and encouragement from my friends and family it’s also important to have an active social life. This would be the first event of any kind that I’ve won anything let alone gone to in the past 6 years and would be a dream come true. Listening to the Black Keys brings me back to my childhood and even little Carmen can get enough of ” Your Touch”. I could only imagine the experience getting to see them live. Please show me that dreams do come true !!

  • Matt says:

i liked the black keys before they were cool

  • Emilie says:

I’ve decided to become a half-assed deadhead-type fan to the Black Keys, and will therefore begin attending all their DC-area shows. Had the Charlottesville concert not been postponed a few years ago, this would be my fourth show. Help make it my third for free. I promise to get the money for my next pair of tickets by selling patchouli or tie-dye shirts.

  • Grace Gh says:

I deserve to go because I have been a LONG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!! fan and are never able to get tickets (super expensive). I would die if I got to see them lol

  • Ben Kodres says:

I deserve to go because my friends all bought their tickets during the presale, and their all sold out. Not to mention I was at school when the presale started and couldn’t buy my tickets.

  • jan_h says:

I’m a mom of 2 teenage girls… I don’t get to have aNy fun These Days. One of them is in college, sooo that means penny-pinching for the Money Maker, and any form of entertainment is reduced to fruitlessly looking for Gold on the Ceiling. Her younger Sister is a Sinister Kid of extraordinary skill. (She could make Rush Limbaugh Run Right Back to *his* mama.)

It’s been a Hell of a Season, and I’m Howlin for a break. I’m so frazzled These Days that my hubby is a Lonely Boy. (Who knows? He may already be looking for his Next Girl.)

Please please please don’t say I Am Not the One who gets your free tickets to see The Black Keys at Merriweather on May 18th… If I cannot go, I’m sure I’ll wind up in the Black Mud playing with Little Black Submarines. (You don’t want that on your conscience, do you?)

    your pal,
    The Only One

  • TILLY1125 says:

The black keys have been one of my favorite bands for awhile now, they’re so innovative with everything they do, each album they put out has its own reason to be great. But, alas, as I originally planned to go to the Verizon Center show, I had to work that weekend. I’m a nurse in DC that works in a busy hospital on a stroke floor, and it’s the kind of job I would never miss a day because I love it that much and smile going into work, and taking care of people is what drives me forward. I will always put my patients first, work is where my heart truly is…but I did listened to ‘Attack and Release’ on the way to work the night of the concert in lieu of seeing their incredible musicianship at the Verizon Center. Maybe this experience won’t pass me by this time :) Regardless of the who will receive this amazing opportunity, thank you very much BYT for giving us all a chance.

  • emma says:

I was lucky enough to go to the Verizon Center show, and it was amazing; Arctic Monkeys are truly an inspiration for me and their songs mean so much more than I can properly put into words. Alex, Matt, Jamie, and Nick are all just such perfect musical geniuses. Their songs pulled me out of a really rough time in my life, full of stress and deaths and family troubles, where it seemed like the only good thing in my life was this music. Going to this show and knowing that these songs from Arctic Monkeys and Black Keys are real, and seeing them perform….I don’t know what it would do, I can’t even describe the emotion I feel just thinking about it! I tried to get floor tickets to the Verizon show, but the website messed up and instead stuck me up at the very top all the way to the side, in a section full of older people who didn’t know who Arctic Monkeys were. I’d love to go to this show and actually have a good time with people who appreciate both bands, like I do. The Black Keys are incredible as well, and their live performance was mind-blowing. I love both of these bands, and it would mean the world to me to win these tickets. Thank you so much!

  • HAZAL yavuz says:

I deserve to go because it will be my last month in USA. I am gonna go back to my country and i won’t have any chance to see them in life again… THIS IS GONNA BE MY ONLY AND LAST CHANCE.

  • Majom says:

I deserve to go because I just graduated college and I haven’t had anyway to celebrate it because I am broke! I used the money for the tickets to take my family out for dinner for my brother’s graduation so I would LOVE THESE TICKETS!
